I have a 06 Tacoma v6 4wd with manual transmission, with 3 inch lift , 33 inch tires, steel sliders, bed rack and soon rtt And probably steel front bumper as well. thinking about gears. I use my truck for long trips and it’s my daily.
what ratio would be proper for my truck?
I was thinking about 4.88. What would you do?

4.88s is going to be over geared with 33s. I'd do 4.56s for the Hwy. some ppl run 35s on 4.56s with the v6 so a heavy truck, 4.56s, and 33s should pair nicely

second this. Before I decided to pull the trigger on 5.29s + 34s for my 2.7 MT, my original plan was 4.88 + 33s.

4.56 would be plenty with v6 power

Agree with the above. 4.56s would likely be your best choice with the mods you have and you’ll be slightly overgrared. 4.88s will be way overgeared for 33’s. I’m on 33’s with a bunch of weight and re-geared this summer to 4.56s. SO much better and I would want lower since highway driving (60-70mph) is at 2600-2800ish rpm.

4Lo in 1st gear is tractor like slow.

My truck is a bit heavier than yours and i'm on 34's, i went with 4.30 and its pretty perfect. No regrets on ratio, and I was able to source a factory 4.30 Elocker from a 3rd gen 4runner for $400, saved a ton of money on the swap.
