Shop Time w/T.W. Friends

Powdercoater sent his guy over to pick this up for paint. I set it by the dock thinking he’d back up there. I forgot he’s not the sharpest crayon in the box.


I said back up to the dock, going down is easier than going up. He said okay.



He didn’t put the tailgate down before backing up, we still had to pick it up

 

If he put his tailgate down, then he wouldn’t be able to use his backup camera. Then you’d have bigger issues!
We had a situation where we just replaced a roll up bay door a week earlier, and a customer backed right into it with the top of his box truck because it wasn’t rolled up all the way. There wasn’t even a reason for him to be backing into our shop, the parts he was picking up fit in your hand.

Theres a reason some employees are voluntold to get out of the shop and go on a delivery/pickup. Spares the rest their sanity!

 

Notice the air compressor sitting on the dock? I can't count how many times it's been hit.

 

Sounds like something needs a heavy-ass cage around it. Or less idiots, but mostly a cage.

If only we knew someone that was decent at metalwork...

 

I’ve always said when I make shop drawings. “I tried to idiot proof it as much as possible, but the world will always create a better idiot!”
I started saying that after I was proven way too many times that they will find a way to screw things up!

 

I’ve been telling the boss we need to make a stand for it to sit beside the dock for 20+ years......he has yet to take me up on that.
