hitch wiring

Hi all,
I have a 2004 tacoma trd that I have recently put a 1998 factory hitch on(new out of box). The wiring is straight forward and simple, however, it has caused an electrical glitch with my left turn signal (speeds up when I put on the brakes?), causes the dash indicator to slightly brighten when i brake, the ABS light comes on, and the right rear tail lights don't function when the head lights are turned on. Could this be caused by a bad "converter" for the hitch wiring? Any ideas out there?

it could be hooked up mostly right, but maybe one wire off, or perhaps a bad ground maybe??

 

I know it really sounds like a bad ground, but the wiring is right out the box and it is all factory plug ins. When i disconnect the wiring kit and go back to original, everything works perfectly. Continuity on the new ground wires ring out too. Still puzzled.

 

Good call. I will start with the elimination of each side. see what happens at least.
