Yes, chip is required. The key in the foto has a slot to hold the chip. I previously had bought an aftermarket key and had coded it to my truck.

I had purchased a 3rd OEM remote (and aftermarket key and added it to my truck before buying this new flipkey fob. The OEM circuit board fits in without any modifications- it simply drops in.

Yea mine came last week. It's quite low quality, and a lot larger than I expected it would be. It was cheap, so I probably won't return it. If anyone wants to pay for shipping I'll ship it to ya. (80221). I want a AIO keyfob that isn't substantially bigger than both the remote and key combined (which this is, and then some). Still not really sure why this one didn't work... I thought the "G chip" meant it was compatible...

Do you happen to know if there are any other factors involved with these? If "G Chip" and "315mhz" are the main factors, what else could be causing the one I got not to work? Granted, mine doesn't mention 315mhz...

EDIT 1: I just took this Key Fob apart, and googled some numbers on the PCB ("251451-313") and found this link: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000232081604.html which clearly states 314.4mhz. I'm no EE, so I'm not sure if this counts as 315mhz or not... this one specifically states 315mhz... might be worth a try, depending on if someone can answer the 314.4 vs 315 question...

EDIT 2: Aaaaannnnddd... then there is this one which is exactly what I'm looking for. Gonna give it a shot—explicitly says it works with Tacoma 2014.

Yea, so I wasn't sure which version of key I had and after researching online I still wasn't positive. I have a 08 base model without the immobilizer. They were cheap enough so I just ordered both the 4D67 and g chip version with 315 mhz, and the g chip one was able to be programed

I thought about one like this but didn't care for the trunk button.

It's been a little over 4 years since I bought mine (that's still working well), but this is what it looks like and it's (still) listed as compatible with "2011-2017 Toyota Tacoma Tundra."

    No idea what you're asking.

Mine works great, so I don't need another one. This one APPEARS identical, meets most folks' requirement for relatively compact size, and claims to be compatible. Obviously, YMMV.

Welp, mine arived today, and I was unsuccessful in programming it. I got the 4 action (2 lock, 2 unlock) response. I have an eBay question out to the seller. We'll see what they say.

With any luck getting the actual three buttons working, my goal is to fiddle around with some things and see if I can't get the trunk button to work on a Pop&Lock setup :)

Please give us an update! I want the same damn key...

on a side note the eBay seller you bought the key from had three positives and one negative feedback on the key on this specific Tacoma key. eBay feedback doesn't say if they got it working or not... Here is the negative feedback that was left.

"BEWARE!! REMOTE PART WORKED, BUT 2 LOCKSMITHS CONFIRM BAD CHIP FOR KEY IGNITION
Upgraded Flip Remote Key Fob 315MHz G Chip for 2011-2014 Toyota Tacoma GQ43VT20T (#183790829850)"

Hmm. I see no reviews for this eBay seller but eBay is also terribly designed so I might be doing something stupid. I'll certainly keep y'all posted on what I find.

Edit: Derp. I see the feedback (not reviews, you did say feedback).

The seller got back to me and writes:
And then attaches these two photos. Not really sure why the trunk button matters in this case. If the mhz are correct and the chip is correct, shouldn't it work? I mean... what Tacoma comes with a keyfob that has a trunk button anyway?

I might try taking it to a locksmith or maybe even a dealer and seeing if they can coerce it into working. I'll be sure to ask lots of questions along the way and see if I can figure out what they're using to make it work.
