I'm struggling to find a Deal.

For what's it worth you could do like I did when I bought mine and that is to find the truck in the color you can live with and the options you like and look outside of your state if you need to. That's what I did. I found mine 11 hours drive from me so the dealership I was dealing with had a great internet online sales department and I made my deal online and they sent me there guaranteed internet price and then sales person called me and I put a deposit on my credit card to stop them from selling it and they did my credit application on there site as well so when that was approved I booked a flight down to the dealership and drove back. When I showed up to to the dealership all that was left to do was the signing of the paperwork and I was outta there in less than an hour. I have bought all my Tacomas this way in the past and havnt dealt with any salespeople because I have the guarantee from there internet sales team on price and terms. I always try to buy local if I can but it never works out so you have to do what's best for you and that's doing internet sales from a good dealership. I'm chasing the impossible. I want a manual transmission truck with a crew cab or club cab (whatever you want to call it) and a minimum 6ft bed. My kids have outgrown the Xtracab in my Tacoma. I love a midsized truck, but a 4 door midsized truck with a 4ft bed is completely useless to me. Sadly, as has been discussed at length here, there is no 4-door long bed Taco in a manual option available. If I have to end up with an automatic, I might as well go to a full sized Chevy that makes double the mileage.

 

Sure, I am more then happy to talk more about it but basically I have been looking for a 2020 Sport for a while. I couldn't find one with tonneau and tech package. A dealer offered to put an order in for one, I had a pretty terrible experience with said dealer over something else and just went to another dealer. I built it on Toyota.com website and sent it to them and they figured everything up with a price. I got 2 quotes from 2 different dealers and one was much better and I went there the same day and put a $500 refundable deposit down.

 

If you can, i might try to hold out until inventories are replenished

 

I was pretty much always at 15mpg with my '16 Tundra. I had a 7" BDS lift and 37" Toyos on it as well and I drive like an asshole. I don't think 18 from a stock tundra with a normal driver would be too unreasonable.

 

OP, I'll sell you my 2020 Voodoo blue 6800 miles with Kings, KM3s, Methods, SPCs, SSO Slimline fullbumper, Warn 10K winch, Rigid SAE fogs, redline struts, etc for $40K.

We had 08 tundra with a 5.7 for work. It didnt really matter how we drove it, it got 12-13 mpgs at best. It wasnt loaded all the time and was completely stock.

Seems like other's experience on TW is similar.

Only time I was ever that low on my '07 Tundra was when I was towing our 35' trailer. That Tundra only had 35s. I was once pulling my trailer, into a massive headwind and ended up getting in the neighborhood of 6-7mpg and I had the small tank. I was stopping like what felt like every other town to fill up...it was painful.

 

6-7 mpgs, damn! haha. Well you were towing which is fine.

Tundras seem to be pretty thirsty, from what i reas most guys get 15 maybe. Our tundra was really bad. We never saw 15 mpgs ever.

Would like to add that 3.5L taco will get 18 in the city, i dont see a 5.7 getting even close to that in the city.

 

Just get an SR, you're going to mod it anyhow.

Yeah, I can get 20mpg with my Taco on the highway (that's lifted with heavy ass 285 KM3s). I loved everything about my Tundras beside driving them around town (so damn big, and it drives like it's a big truck) and it's mileage...especially around town.

Today, I told the salesman that I just wanted to order a 21 DCSB, Auto, TRD OR 4x4, Cement color w/ LED headlights & LED Fog light, w/ tech package. He told me the way it works is I cant "really order" my truck. That I could be added to a list and if that specific configuration showed up at port and nobody else had claimed it, they could try and get it. Or if it was scheduled to be delivered to another dealer they would have to try and work a trade out with the other dealer. This is probably all BS, but its what I was told.

Also, They called the other Dealership about trying to get the Silver Tacoma for me at 12 today, I received a text at 2 saying they had talked to the other dealership and were waiting to hear back if the other dealer would trade it. Its now5:15 and no word from my salesman so I can only assume they cant get this one either... Strike 2

 

I don't know if the word "order" is fully correct. I just know what I am told. Which is pretty similar to that. Basically I was told that dealers have allocated trucks coming, if mine matches something close then they could add extras if needed at factory level for stuff like tonneau cover and badges ect can be added by dealer. If nothing is coming up that matches then they just add one in the next available opening for them.

 

Had a guy offer me $41k for my 2020 (loaded TRD OR $45k msrp) only paid $39k new, times are crazy, I’d wait OP.

 

There's a massive debate whether you can "order" a specific truck. One thing is for sure, you can't go to the assebly line like the Model T and see your vehicle being built.

 

I really enjoyed watching my TRD model T being built on the assembly line, good times...

 

No debate really, people new to the process who just think they know more than the rest of us who actually know. Ah 2020 and the age of no one ever being wrong.

 

Had the same experience, ended up buying a SR double cab 4x4, paid $32,828 - they gave me a $1000 dealer discount. I passed on the $1,000 rebate and took 1.9%. Looking back now, I wish i'd taken the $1,000 rebate because i'll likely pay it off very early and wont save $1,000 in interest anyway. But the dealer had a TRD Sport Premium Tech package, leather etc.. Sticker was just over $43,000 and I couldn't stomach paying that much when I paid less 16 months ago for a new 2018 F-150 Lariat 3.5 EB FX4 loaded to the gills. That truck stickered at $58xxx and after model year end discounts and private cash I was in it for 42,xxx. Traded it in on wife a new car a month ago and they gave me $44,500 with 18,000 miles on it (busted grill from rock slides on Wolf Creek Pass and hail damage on the hood and top of cab, and I kept my weathertech mats and Undercover tri-fold and sold them within a day).. I couldn't pass it up. Happy so far with my decision to just buy the SR and save the $6K-$10K over an OR or Sport.
