Bestop Supertop 2

Carefull with that, bestop is not known for accurately telling tacoma owners what top works right for their truck. For the first few years they were selling the 2nd gen top to 3rd gen owners saying it fits... yes, it fits and fits like trash.

With that said, the 3rd gen may fit the 2nd. I can give you some pictures of my top on my 3rd gen with some measurements of the cab to top area.

What gets me the most about the bestop is the gap between the topper and the cab.

 

Yes, I do find that part annoying, but the fit and finish is great. There are no snaps or clips like the softtopper. Everything is held on by tracks or zippers.

 

I wish they would just combine best of both toppers. Especially since they're one comany.

 

One thing I really like on the bestop though is that the frame that goes around the bed has 2 slot rails all the way around. So you can mount stuff to it. Here is a scotty fishing pole mount I just put on.

There is a track mount on top of each rail, and on the inside edge of each rail.

 

How do you get windows for the bestop supertop 2? Mine is coming in next week and I have yet to find any mesh or plastic windows for it

 

You dont, they dont sell them. Maybe in the future they will, but as it sits you would have to use the panels that come with and take it to a upholstery shop and have them custom made.

A custom shop can cut the stock panels and install windows or screens if you want.

 

Damn, thats crazy! I was thinking the windows for the first version might fit, but I dont want to chance it.

Im 99% sure I heard you could purchase windows for it in that video review of Jessie Rizzo folding down the supertop 2.
I might see about that upholstery idea but thats a real bummer!

 

Did you use the discount code in Jessies video? I used it a few months past when his video said it was valid and still got the 10% off and free shipping. Put the top in cheaper than the softopper.

But yea, check some shops I bet they could make you some zip in windows and zip in screens. Then you could just unzip the window part of the sides and zip in what you want.

Find a shop that does alot of jeep tops, they will be your best bet for customizing and could probably make whole new sides with just the stock ones as a template.

Edit 2: Looks like they made the price higher too. I paid $719 shipped for mine with the 10% discount.

 

That would be so sick. How is this not a bestop feature? I feel like they focus too much on the damn Jeeps.

 

Jeeps are their bread and butter. Pickups are the red headed stepchild they dont love anymore.

Soft topper ..

 

Ill take a trash bag and some duct tape before I get a soft topper. While the soft topper has some more options, snaps dont hold a candle to track systems for mounting.

 

I think Bestop’s customer service is trash. I ordered a Bestop 2 late July and they expected to ship mid August. Mid August rolls around and nothing yet so i reached out to them and they tell me they will ship it out later in August. The first week of September rolls around and i get an email saying my order has been canceled and i got a refund. Softopper is the way to go.
