Looking at the picture in the other thread, you might could just fix the leak with some epoxy like JB weld.

If you don't wan't to go that route, it shouldn't be hard to just replace it yourself. Lol at paying someone $500 to do it. Or even $350.

If you are drilling holes in your bed, you should have the skills to replace the filler neck. If you don't, you probably shouldn't be drilling holes in your truck.

I had a similar experience when installing a tonneau cover. It was raining and I was in a hurry to get the tonneau installed so we could leave for a family emergency the next day. As luck would have it, I slipped on the wet bed surface and the drill ended up nicking the fuel filler neck on the left side of the bed. With that said, I still took the truck to Ohio and straight to a dealership when we got there. They charged me $350 to replace the part, which I thought was fair.

About a month after that, the check engine light came on, so back to the dealer we went.....the safety switch for the evap system had burned up...probably because it ran for about 1,100 miles straight....lucky there was no charge for this part.....accidents happen. But I won't make that mistake again. A step drill bit would have saved me a lot of headache.

My tank was just about full, but with the tiny hole in the filler neck it would take fuel but leak slightly while doing so.....if you filled it at a fast pace, it would leak more....so it was finding the happy place of slowly filling and not taking forever....probably never leaked more that a cup while filling, but cause the evap/check engine light to come on the next day.
