2 years no trouble for my windshield that has 45% tint. $164 ticket here in IL. It was a good run.

Congratulations! You must be so proud.
What's the story behind-the-scenes of how you got nicked?

While true, sunglasses won’t help protect your dash from fading and cracking. They also won’t help keep your truck cooler in the summer months.

Higher the % the lower the tint from what I've been told. Whichever the case, the front windshield is a no no. I did the front windshield on my 1st Gen and people would go ape shit. No joke, some dude freaked out like an ape in front of my truck because he couldn't see inside.

I might go with a lighter tint next time, I’m currently in the dilemma if I want to switch to a soft top like yours or keep my hardtop

You guys can buy smoked windshields in the states no? I've seen one that came up to my shop that had a natural tint to it and it blocked UV's.

We can't even order them here, its a big ass ticket up in Canada, but it stays darker a lot longer.

I think the stock windshield is tinted a bit. I know it's not clear.

I could totally understand if they can’t see you at all or barely but if the driver is still visible without any problem it’s stupid to get nicked for it

There are films that are nearly clear that will block most of the UV and infrared light spectrum. The shop that did my tint does it. They said they don't do many as of yet but it's hard to tell it's on with out a close look. It should keep the inside cooler and help with fading and cracked dash panels.
