    Hello,

I had 4.88 gears and a Harrop e locker in the rear installed today. Didn’t want to mess around with the wiring harness so I took it to another shop to be installed. They wired it (as they always do) and the harness kept blowing fuses. They have no idea what is wrong and believe it may be the harness itself. Any ideas/thoughts?

Not likely shorts inside the harness, that’s easy to check though if you know electrical.

Whenever I work on my truck nothing goes right. And it can’t even go right when I pay someone, I’m over it

There’s a recent thread about a similar issue, let me dig, but you should be able to find it with a search for Harrop

Doesn’t matter which way the wires are. So that’s def not it. But the diode I’m not sure per the thread. They updated the harness recently it’s different then the one I used but the could be it and the shop put it in backwards. We installed my buddies as the shop didn’t do it either. how did you tell the fuse was blowing? Just checking it? I think he is some issues too but come to think not sure we checked the fuse

The 2 wires coming off the locker are not polarity sensitive.

Just checking it, yes. Wired it up and when they tried to activate it (via my switch panel) the harness fuse blew

Amazon special one. He also tried it with just the switch it came with and still blew. I’m wondering if it’s a similar issue as the thread you linked. I wouldn’t be stressed but I need to start heading back up to Washington tomorrow (I’m in southern Cali for this)

You don’t need that harness if your using switch pro just wire directly to it. 2 wires directly to SWitch Pro. That’s how I had it setup for the last year but recently switched to a regular switch needed to free up space

They told me that’s how they set it up originally. Unfortunately I know close to nothing about electrical. I forgot to mention the diode also blew. So I’m wondering if the fuse was switched

Hmmm if it’s not a switch pro could be something else. any issues with other stuff on the panel? Sounds like some ground short.

You drove all the way to SoCal for this?????

OP, don’t fret. You’re not far from me. I’m up the road near Silverdale. Swing on by and I’ll hook you up. Gratis.

it’s extremely disappointing the “shop” “has no idea what’s wrong”. What kinda backwoods failures are these guys? Calling themselves a shop?? It’s the simplest harness ever, just 2 wires it’s near impossible to screw up. Even if the harness is broken that’s easy to diagnose and fix. Sorry you’re being taken for a ride. Get your money back

Was this part of the group by locker install in SoCal? Only curious because that’s what my buddy did. When he came back and we installed the wiring at my place as they did not install the harness which I though was odd but I guess that’s factored into the price

They added a diode? Like a flywheel diode? Only reason why I could think of is for noise canceling. It’s not necessary. The relay should function just the same without the diode plugged in. Maybe they plugged in in backwards not knowing what a diode is. Didn’t this come with instructions lol?
