Thanks for the pics! Now I'm more excited and just need to really dig into the planning around setup.

I really dig those molle panels. Gotta look into how I want to use the roof too. Anyone have specific plans? I'm thinking solar, road shower, and awning. But details are hazy in my excitement to just get the damn thing.

@Synergy001 , thanks for adding those pictures! Getting stoked to see these things start rolling out. Did anything around the panel opening handles come up while you were there by chance?

I noticed Roaming Lost has different looking handles than the silver test model on the Tacoma. Wondering if these are the ones that will end up on production models or not?

good catch. If the one that was showing above was Spencer and crews own that is a pre production model and likely has changed. Roaming Lost has production model #1. if so it makes sense as it maximizes the window space as well.

Def would be great if we get a cab to shell sliding window. Spencer told me the same and had not found one he liked. Curious though what he is looking for. I can tell they are keen on build qualify but these types of window shave been available for years. Unless they are making a custom one there has to be something they can go with. Either way excited.

I started stripping down a bunch of my stuff on the truck over the weekend. Won't go all in until its closer to game time sine I have stuff covered, wiring etc.

I will have solar for sure. Currently running 200 watts but looking at something low profile. Since I am losing some cab rack space likely the traction boards will go up there too. I was talking with Roaming lost about his cross bars. for anyone wondering they are front runner. He was not sure which one but looking into the model as I like the low profile use of them. My current thule likely would work but front runners appear lower and fit the design better.

Too bad it looks like the shell tapers on the bed frame.
near the tailgate its almost flush to the rails and getting towards the cab you see more of the bed rails

Good find. it looks like the interior of the shell does not reflect that so possibly some design element. Either way I grabbed that photo and asked Spencer why it was not flush and tapered.

It’s more than likely straight, and just accentuates the bed sides outer curve. My GFC and Flippac were the same, showed me that the outer portion of the bed is slightly curved a bit.

I’m going to venture into the awning game, I haven’t had one yet.

For water, I may go water port inside. I’ve seen some that I liked especially when hooked up to air. I forget which GFC guy put a regulator on his with a auto bleed type thing. Looked pretty cool. Either that or something I can hang on the rail and still put away when not in use.

I think I’m going the Jackery 1000 route for power, with one of their solar panels. Nothing permanent for me. I liked having a modular/removable setup in my past two campers. Still might get some kind of DIY drawer on one side

Correct. They will be using different latches than seen on the photos I took. He tried to find one and show it to me yesterday but he couldn’t find it. I am pretty sure it’s the same ones Roaming Lost has from what he was describing to me.

Honestly I'm really happy about this. Nothing wrong with the latches shown, but they just feel very generic haha.
    Like a DIY project.

I got some drawers I made and plan on keeping em. Now that I have them I can't go back to not having them. I definitely feel like I will lose a lot of the comfort getting in and out of the truck bed though. Kinda bummed.

Interesting. My first gen bed seems very straight. Could be different for yours.
    Thanks for the comment

We made our own “water port” style with pressure and auto bleed and valves. We’re thinking of looking into an all aluminum modular versions to made. awnings would be great just stay away from the cheaper 270. I have a rhino rack batwing it’s garbage. It works for what it is but I’ve been less than happy with it.

Chatting with Roaming lost and he noted inside it’s boxed but has that taper on the outside like we see here.

Yah I agree those image the same ones you used or similar. Works for locking up but for setup like this needs a better setup and plus we can get bigger windows (hopefully)

So I’m thinking I will be like you and love them when I get it figured out. I’m thinking passenger side only and not the entire depth of the bed. Maybe short up front, maybe short on the tailgate end, possibly even short on both. I have a vertical driver side spare tire idea, just need the SP on for height clearance.

Yes first gets are straightest, 2nd gen is slight curved on the outside. 3rd gen has a noticeable curve when you put a straight edge(camper or rail) on it. Body lines or whatever.

yes and yes. I’ve browsed some tanks here and there, just not sure how much time and effort to spend versus paying for a situated product ready to go. And on the awnings, I’ve reached out to Kinsmen about working with SP but haven’t heard back. Might have to have the product on hand to make any progress there.

Yeah, there doesn’t seem to be a way to match the front to rear curve of a 3rd gen and I’m fine with that. I actually like how the SP has more of a vertical profile. It equals more storage inside, something my old Flippac had a lot of. I noticed a smaller profile on the GFC due to the different vertical angles. I actually like the more “boxy” outline of the SP

Funny I just completed a DYI open drawer slide setup and with this I will need to rip it all out. I was thinking of a 1 side setup as well. right now my fridge is behind the drivers side and this will allow me to move it to the rear. I do like being able to access cold water and brews without opening up the swingout though. If I can get it setup to sit behind one of the UTE doors then that will be a good compromise.

You should be fine mounting any spare tire if you are going upright. I used to run mine behind the cab and pretty sure we have enough.

Spencer mentioned possibly getting into the awning game next year as an add on. Prob not Kinsmen status as the noted he wanted to keep the weight down. I just told him as long as its stronger than a batwing that would be great.

Glad to hear the first gens are the straighest out of the generations. Makes sense now that I think about the third gen owners. :boink:
Happy to hear though, I'm a pretty basic person but I feel like seeing that difference in bed and shell would drive me nuts for a good while.

Wonder if theres any production happening right now.
Other than roaming lost, doesn't seem like anyone else has one, and I haven't see a hangar full of people building em.
