2018 Recall Engine Shuts Off

You signed a contract that is carried by a finance company that holds the title to the truck. They DGAF what the condition of the truck is or anything else.

Dealer service and finance company are unrelated items. You don't pay the note because you think you are "sticking it to the man" they will cheerfully respond by trashing your credit, repossessing the truck, and possibly taking you to collections for whatever loss they took when the truck was wholesaled off.

Hence my point of telling OP to not pay the note on the truck is bad advice and should not be heeded. I see that you doubled down on your point later but the fact remains that it's wrong and you'd lose that fight.

 

This is absolutely true, unfortunate but true. I work for a large finance company and know this is how it works. I don't finance my cars for a reason or two.

 

Yes you're right. Sitting at home, not talking to anyone and not paying your bill is a bad idea. Agreed.
