Tossed a set on today from a local dealer. We'll give them a shot.

Nah tax free weekend in MA right now. I actually ended up paying just a bit more per tire than Amazon and other online retailers. But I was finding that local shops were charging more for mount/balance, except walmart, could've bought them from there and had installed for $15/per but hell no am I having walmart touch my truck.

I keep going back and forth between these and the new Toyo ATIII. Any opinions? I also posted this in that thread but didn’t get any feedback

I think that's going to be a hard call. Both are very good tires. From the sizes I've compared between the two, the Falkens have 2/32" deeper tread than the Toyos do. Falkens carry a 55,000 mile warranty. The Toyos have a 65,000 mile warranty on P Metric tires and a 50,000 mile warranty on LT metric tires.

I appreciate your feedback. It’s been tough finding someone that’s ran both. Right now I’m leaning towards the Falkens.

Bit the bullet on the Falkens this past weekend. I'm almost to 40k miles and stock Wranglers had maybe 5000 miles left on them, so it was time. So far so good on the Falkens, loving the look and they are quiet. I'll report back with more input after I get some miles on them in all conditions (trail, rain, snow) but first impressions are good. 265/75 16 on TRD Pro rims.

I just ordered my second set of P rated 265/75 16s for my truck. I have just over 50k on the current ones and have had no major problems. When they were initially installed I had to go back a week later to have them re-balanced due to a slight vibration around 50mph, but since then they’ve been great. They’ve held up through Ohio weather quite well. I was looking at changing tires but couldn’t find anything that hit both the price point, the look, and the quality I have experienced so far. Who knows, maybe I just got a lucky set by looking at some of the complaining about these tires. But for as well as they’ve worn and as well as they’ve done for me I’m definitely willing to get them again. I could likely get some more miles out of the current ones but I want to get them changed over before any winter weather hits just to be safe. I drive 90% on pavement with no extreme off roading. I rotate them every 7k when I do my oil changes and they’ve worn evenly all around. I am certainly hoping for the same experience the second time around with these.

Also wanna chime in with some long term positives on these tires...

Coming in around 50k over the last 2+ years. Planning to get through this winter before swapping them out. Handle great in the snow and have done well off-road. I've only had 1 puncture and it was from a sheet metal screw...not even anything from a trail. I agree with a few recent posts that I thought about switching tires for my next set (I've had good luck with hankook dynapros but this was before the "remodel") but I haven't really found a reason to switch. Solid price point for a good all-around AT tire. I've recommended to a bunch of people. I saw someone say they might be a "fad" tire but so be it, worked great for me so far. I run SL 265/75 16s for reference....kinda wish I could get them in a 255/85, that may be the only reason I switch tires when I need a new set. Get your air pressure right, rotate them regularly (I've been lazy in the last year but no uneven wear) and do visual inspections every now and then like you should anyway. Again...highly recommend.

I'm on my 2nd set of Wildpeak SL 265/70/16's. I rotate them every oil change (5,000 miles). I got around 23,000 miles out of the first set & swapped them out just before winter 2018 when they were down to 4/32nd's. The current set has 22,000 miles & I am down to 7/32nd's. The first set wore quick due to the mountain road I was traveling everyday. I no longer travel that road but I still travel country back roads everyday so I expect higher wear than someone who travels highways. If my tire wear stays consistent then I will be changing these tires out around Spring 2021. No complaints what so ever with these tires. I may try another brand next time but I haven't decided yet.

I’m currently trying to decide between Wildpeaks in E or SL in size 265/75/16. I’m driving highways and roads everyday for my job from job site to job site so there is a lot of road miles during my day however I like to go on some easier trails And maybe eventually get on some more intense stuff but I do a lot of driving out to areas to hunt and fish in the mountains. So my debate has been betweenSL and E. I just talked to a guy at an off-road shop and he said to do Es and to air it down a little and the ride quality won’t be as stiff and that the tread will last longer than on an SL. Didn’t know if that’s true or what other people think about it. Thanks guys

I agree with this tire shop, although the vehicles I ran them on were much heavier than a Tacoma.

ive run both e and p-metric. The e load will affect your power and performance more than you think. try it. I eventually sold my 245/75R16 in an E load w/ lots of life left in them. Great tires. Heavy though.

I've had 3 sets of the Coopers and love them! I plan to replace my stock Goodyear ones before winter starts. Likely it'll be with the Coopers.

yeah I was curious about the Falkens but my Coopers were outstanding for 2 years of heavy use and a lot of miles, so I decided if it ain't broke, don't mess with it and replaced with the same Cooper 4S's
