That does sound like a good buy, I guess Costco gets some kind of kickback out of the deal too?

I predicted Toyota would have zero manuals in 2020.

So far I'm wrong, but 2020 is a bitch of a year, so I'm waiting to see still.

They are still offering this model for 2021. I put a deposit down on one today. Should arrive mid October.

Worse mpg on the sticker. In the real world I get better mpg in the MT than my AT got

That's probably the first time I've heard that out of countless other testimonials. Did you change your driving style in any way?

    Not at all.

if you spend your time driving at 60+, the MT will be better

If you only drive around town and always under 60, the AT will be better

Not bad. But I'll get 20-24 (depending on the time of year) in my AT. About 17-1800 RPMs though if it stays in 6th. I was very intrigued by the manual because of the forgiveness for those new to manuals. Even though I've driven motorcycles, I've never done a manual in an actual car.

I'm also guessing the MT makes the truck feel far less "underpowered?"

if you can ride a motorcycle you can drive an MT car. It's more intuitive and balancing the truck on 4 wheels while you get used to the shifting is no problem

Even if it is -2mpg, it's worth it

Interesting, I've found the opposite to be true. My 2019 OR manual would get better in town mileage but worse on the freeway than my 2020 SR auto. Both trucks have same 32" tires and 2.5" lift however, not stock. The 2020 might not be fully broken in, but I doubt that is the case.

Lol yes, the theory is the same, but the practice is a little different. Same principals, just different hand/foot functions. Plus I know motorcycle clutches are far more resilient because of the smaller motor.

Edit: but as I said in other posts, the MT is the entire reason I started looking more seriously at the Tacoma.

    Lol!

The MT was very difficult to find with the features I wanted in my area at the time and the AT was more convenient. But, hopefully they keep offering it! You never know what the future has in store!

the problem with my AT was it would NEVER stay in 6th...5th at best.. usually 4th.

my MT i can cruise in 6th all day long

interesting. I'd hope they've made some improvements to the 2020 shift logic. The 16 i had was total trash (even after a TSB and filling the trans fluid)

I keep hearing it has been improved. I don't know for sure, this 2020 is the first auto Taco I've owned or driven.
