I got my notice this morning.

not to burst your bubble, I’ve gotten similar notices from Lexus dealers on my last orders only to have a cancel notice emailed to me a few weeks later.

 

I really doubt there are a lot of these injectors out there. They get replaced 1 at a time under warranty and I'm sure there aren't a lot of ls500s on the road. I can understand their frustrations.

 

On a side note how close are catted dp @OVTune?

The punch line is that it'd be easier to move out of California then pass their smog testing.

FYI CARB = California Air Resources Board.

Emissions testing is highly complicated and affected by a number of environmental factors. This downpipe is custom and hasn't been emissions tested on this engine before. No one can say for certain if it will pass any emissions check. You can't ask Mat or anyone else if it will pass in your county. It's literally an unknown. It will "probably/possibly" pass in a lot of places, and it's better than no CATs.

Also since this truck so wonderfully has a secondary set of catalytic converters on it, there is a good chance that your truck will pass an exhaust sniffer test whether it has catted or non-catted downpipes. If they run your OBD and your O2 sensors fail you that's a whole other matter. You could run an O2 simulator or move your secondary O2 sensors to after the secondary CATs.

Regardless, the bottom line is that even if it somehow magically passes your county's strict emissions testing via exhaust testing and OBD check, altering anything that affects your vehicle's emissions system without CARB certification in the state of California is illegal. If they literally look at your engine and see the turbos and different catalyst without CARB labels they can fail you. That's why manufacturers say "For Off-Road Use" (that means not registered for the road, not off-roading your tacoma on the weekends).

So if we are done being offended, let's all just accept that some CATs are better than no CATs and installing this is at your own risk.

 

Our Turbo kit is not CARB, not california compliant.

Will it pass federal emissions standards with catted downpipes? I'm quite certain it would no problem.

However with the ever increasing strictness of californias laws and requirements, not only is it not approved in california.. but we may not even be able to ship kits to customers in california in the future.

 

Are all kits shipping once catted DPs arrive or will you ship certain kits first? What time frame are we looking at?

I’m itching to get the truck out and see what this thing sounds like...

Catted pipes are not being delayed. Manufacture messaged me last night we will have them this month for sure. So NTL end of month.
I do appreciate your patience. I am sure some of you guys are getting antsy now that folks are starting to get superchargers too.. I understand.
