The LCA thing isn’t exclusive to Tacoma’s too, i had to get my LCA mounts gusseted on my old half ton silverado too. If you have a local offroad shop you could see if they could do something a little more homemade/possibly cheaper, but imo you can’t go wrong with the name brands for this.

Shit's nasty. I got the splooge treatment and promptly dropped a nut in the sploogey shit. Took me like 30 minutes to get it out lol.

Get the Clutch Masters Hydro TOB. Then let me know how bad it sucks to install lol

Mine chatters a bit from the pressure plate fingers being stiffer, and squeaks/talks when it's too clean or too dirty. Barely noticeable over the other rattles and bushing creaks.

the first 3k miles, this new clutch was ultra quiet with no noticeable noise until the clutch starts slipping and getting hot. then you could hear it wurrrr a little.

i don't think they make any hydro bearing for the 2gr-fks motor. at least i can't find one. the best replacement for me, unfortunately, is oem AFAIK.
8 hours of work to get to a $100 part. love it.

Anyone got a lift i can borrow? :frusty:

Agreed. The best consensus I gathered, if not going with Clutch Masters, is OEM. I'm not unhappy with the LCE one, it may be OEM, but I likely messed something up for it to chatter like it does. Not anything negative I can tell at least

I'm not sure what you can fuck up in a clutch assembly unless the flywheel wasn't torqued or you didn't get the alignment right. Otherwise, i'd think it's a TOB or Pilot bushing making the noise. But idk, i'm like 2 months into knowing how a cluch works hahaha.

    :notsure:

When the time comes to get back in there again, or if I get bored one weekend and have at least one other bored person too, I'll get all new stuff in there again. Including a flywheel. I didn't resurface it 'properly' and get it turned, I just cleaned and scuffed the everloving shit outta it.

Holler when you do it. As long as it's on a lift, I'll gladly lend a hand. I'm not doing that shit on the ground again lol.

I agree. The lca tabs need to bend and compress inward as the bolt gets tightened, to squeeze and grip the lca.

It's so cheap and easy to have a shop do it. They did mine while I watched, just a couple minutes

I also did mine on the ground, it does suck, but not too terrible with a second floor jack and second person.

I know, I was just in a crunch after already taking 3x as long as needed for the install. Finding a shop that had the capability for a flywheel on a lathe, and to do it on a Saturday was tough.

Just another reason hinting in the direction that I'd love to have my own shop, of course I'd outsource machining among a few other things.

My truck has been in the garage on jack stands since late May... granted I haven’t been in a hurry to do this stuff since I’m not driving much at all. But, if I had a lift (and the right tools to being with), I’d have been done months ago.

Mine wouldn't start the other morning. Got to looking and the battery terminal clamp and it was cracked causing just a hair connection to anything hot. Had to rewire everything to the new clamp and i don't have an ignition crimper to do it properly. First bump will probably knock everything off.
