Brand new to the truck world and am looking at a 2007 Tacoma TRD Sport.

Are there any differences between early model vs late model 2nd gen Tacomas?

Some interior pieces, like head unit instead of just CD player and clock.
Some cosmetic plastic parts on the exterior were changed midway through.

LED tail lights were on all 6 lug trucks 09+ i believe.

Running gear wise, not much changed from 05-15. Slight revisions of the transmission (auto) and things like different headgaskets midway through 06 on the v6, and the addition of the SAIS system on 12+ v6's and VSC and side curtain airbags standard on 09+

    They’re also interchangeable I believe.
I put the solid red ones (non led) on my 15.

wiring for the radio is not the same. Steering wheel and control are different. Depending if you get off road or sport. They had a different non electric booster on 5/6 off road (same as sport). Also there was a LSD on early 2nd now its ABS driven or something like that.

the radio dash surround and HVAC are different. You can swap them but FYI they are different. If you have earlier version you cant get certain items like a 2TPAM but you can swap if you want. (looks better anyway. Plus more options for black stuff if you dont like the silver. minor things but still a difference.

    Mechanical LSD in 07.
    Brake type in 09+

The stock LSD doesn’t have much going for it repair wise. My opinion is 2013+ is the best of the 2nd Gens. But you’ll be paying for it.

Had an 09. Have a 15 now. Front end looks much better. 09 looked weak.

    steering seems tighter also

    Stock for now.. maybe
I'm with you and that's part of the reason why I ended up with a 2015.

Although there was just a 2015 in great condition with low miles and garage kept up for sale in the '²nd gen trucks for sale' forum and it was actually very reasonably price.. as in the person could have priced it much more easily.

OP. If the truck you're looking at isn't right for you keep looking otherwise I wouldn't hesitate
    Good luck
