They get the one from the Hilux and get it emissions tested. Done.

They (Ford) also thought they would have a good competitor to Toyota with the Ranger when it came out and what a giant disappointment that turned out to be for them. Lol.
Yes, I agree with you though that the Bronco will do much better in sales however.

Easier said than done. Ask GM how that worked for them with the Thailand diesel they brought here from overseas. Not so easy as you claim it would be.....:D

Toyota ain't going to change anything unless they see a real need. They are a pretty conservative car company. They rarely do anything to make a splash.

I think it would be a lot harder than that. I’m not an expert by any means, but I know making a diesel to US specifications is difficult.

However, what Diesel Toys in Texas does with Tacomas is freakin’ sick. It just comes with that less than desirable $28.5K price tag.

Agreed. I know that’s how they’ve made their name. Just would like to see them take a risk one time.

Considering the lack of investment in the current Ranger and it leapfrogging into the #2 slot behind the Tacoma, would think they are probably satisfied with the outcome. l think the Bronco is also going to do well too, think it shares the platform with the next Generation Ranger.

In general, if the Germans can't do it, and they have to cheat to make it work, you know it is next to impossible, if not completely impossible. :)

The next gen ranger intrigues me. Ill never buy one but I like to see competitors trying to go all out to try and de throne the Tacoma. Won’t happen but it’s entertaining to watch all the companies try and fail lol. Been that way for 20 plus years.

Yes the current Ranger is awful looking but with anything looks are subjective. The next gen Ranger looks somewhat better. A step in the right direction anyway for them.

I too am curious, wondering how many Bronco pieces and parts will interchange, part of me also hopes the 7 Speed Manual will make its way over too.

Nah, no koolaid here brother. Just going off facts. 90k units sold vs 250,000 is a huge domination. They have a LONG way to go.

Yeah they used the Global Ranger for it, all of the overseas trucks seem to all share that weird skinny and tall look.

It is a little different for 2020 but it was still a 2 to 1 ratio and the Colorado bumped down to 3rd.

I was told by my dealer Friday that Toyota is on track with their promise to have their entire fleet either electric or hybrid by 2025. That includes Tacomas and Tundras. That is where there focus is right now. I would not expect much in the next 4-5 years.
