If they work half as well as my CBI sliders, i'll be a happy camper (literally). I beat the shit out of those sliders a month or so back. Few gouges, but man they took it like a champ.

My stock skids looked like crumpled cans

Stock skids can barely take gravel. They're really on there so Car & Driver can go "off roading" at the local mulch yard when picking up half a yard to "test" the truck

I'll be on some gravel this weekend with NO SKIDS. I'll be easy, but I hope nothing breaks or falls out :) like the transmission we had out last weekend!

Lol. Double check and watch for drips.

Edit: do you still have the two factory cross members (for lack of a better term) that protect your exhaust just past the manifold? Before they join at the Y?

I'm bringing PLENTY of brake fluid with me this weekend lol

Edit: Yeah we didn't remove any of those. I only took the skids off.
I mean, we had them off for the tranny drop, but we replaced them.

Finally got some free time to install the URD short shifter kit. The job went pretty well. I cheated an took a tin snips at it to better access the front shift column bolts. Had trouble getting the shifter completely seated. Best advice I can pass on is "jiggle and shove that sucker into the hole, to the bottom, Chip!" Everything else was straight forward. Damn nice job on the kit and instructions to the folks at URD.

Test Drive: INCREDIBLE! I am so used to banging knuckles into the dashboard and whacking my coffee cup for #2 & 4 I need to reteach my muscle memory. Between this and the accumulator delete; TRANSFORMATIONAL.

I highly recommend these 2 upgrades to all manual trans Tacomas.

There are a few builds out there that just did homemade kits with various lines and fittings.

There is also the dremel mod, which seems to be a solid go to since plug n play kits are hard to find.
