torque on diesel is right there off idle

any gas engine will need throttle.........little to no torque at idle

    same numbers either engine

the diesel will pull the gas anywhere at idle

    ideal for crawling....slow work.......rocks

Sunroofs are without a doubt the dumbest thing ever to be put on a vehicle. Lets stick another 200 lbs on the roof of a vehicle with an already high center of gravity. It provides no benefits and only serves to make your truck hotter when its parked in the summer.

I've found nothing that suggests this online anywhere. Just that they plan to sell X number of electric cars by 2025. Nothing that suggests every Toyota vehicle including the Tacoma will be hybrid or electric exclusively.

    Cold fact.

The majority of the buying public does not go off-road. Meaning this is a small market segment. Corporations will focus on the largest market to move the most product and gather the greatest profit. Typically, this is done using the features/options that are most required/demanded for that market.

If Toyota is moving 250,000 Tacomas each year.......then I'd say Toyota has targeted the market very well.

A recent example. Not too many years ago 4 door sedans were the family vehicle, that desire began to shift with the introduction of the minnivan, the market continued to shift to SUV, then Crossovers........ Now, a 4 door family sedan is hard to find.

Ford shifted nearly all production to the F series, SUV types and a few Mustangs. Drive by a Ford dealer, look at the lot, very few SUV mostly F series.

I find it laughable that we're even driving Tacoma's, or any car/truck for that matter. It's almost 2021 for crying out loud. Aren't we supposed to be flying around like the Jetson's????:D

In my area of the USA, people still can't figure out how yield signs and roundabouts work, so I am in no rush for flying vehicles.

    That's a scary thought......

Just imagine an operator handling the cell phone and handling a flying car....... :annoyed:

Most can't handle a vehicle that is on the ground.

"If you can't operate the turn signals, then how do you operate the rest of the car?"

Ford work very hard to put a blue oval on what is essentially a Tacoma.

No doubt, if I could have legally deleted that DEF system and just have that bare bones baby dmax, I’d still have that ZR2 to this day. For its size it was a little torque monster.

Tell us how you really feel on sunroofs lol. Just kidding. I’m with you, I have the sun roof on mine and I have used it maybe 5 times the whole time I’ve had it and it’s been at night when it’s cooler out. Other than that, sunroof and shade both closed all the time.

I am mostly interested in what Toyota is bringing to the table in the 2038 model year because that is when I will consider my next Tacoma.

If I had purchased any of those other vehicles, yeah I would probably be looking every couple of years for an improvement.

Those American car brands are coming up with new features and vehicles because they can't compete with Toyota's reliability.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Ford's and all those other brands always break down in some form or fashion; much more often than that of Toyota's vehicles.

These new "enhancements" are their way of trying to compete with Toyota but at the end of the day, we all know which brand is superior and will always exceed in reliability and resale value.

    Like, so many.
Most Raptors never go off-road either, but folks buy the hell out of them. This is why I'm surprised I don't see more automotive manufacturers creating a competitor to the Raptor.

Both are excellent choices. I was looking at AT3s myself as well.

I leave my sunroof a crack open in the summer and it keeps it cooler while parked:notsure:

I use it all the time while driving as well.

I love mine too, even in the winter on a sunny day it's nice to just slide the shade open.

I think for your point, the US auto manufacturers benefit heavily from fleet purchasing for local, state, and federal agencies wanting and needing barebones trucks.
