    Hi,
Quick question....I'm awaiting my 2020 TRD ORDCSB with added OEM hard tonneau cover as option. To install this, does it require removing the bed rails? Just curious as I'll make sure the dealer includes these loose with the hardware if they are indeed removed for tonneau installation.

    Many thanks!

I also have a 2020 TRDOR DCSB with oem tonneau. The side rails in the bed came installed on mine. Congrats on the new truck.

    Great, thanks for the info.
How do you like the OEM hard cover? I've read good reviews

I actually really like it. I had a 2018 that I traded that had an aftermarket roll up vinyl tonneau (Truxport Truxedo). So I can compare the two types.

The roll up vinyl was great for use of the full length of the bed. The oem limits the height of the third of the bed that is closest to the cab. Easy to take off if you need that height though.

The vinyl one was also more waterproof, which I was surprised about. The oem one let's in a small amount of water, mostly on the edges. With the oem bed mat, only stuff right up against the edges will get slightly wet. Anything that needs to stay dry is in a tote anyway so not a big deal.

The oem is more secure as a thief would need to break into the thing instead of just using a knife to cut into the vinyl one. Probably not that difficult but more work than just slashing vinyl.

The hard surface of the oem is nice. While driving you don't see the vinyl flapping and you don't hear it through the open sliding rear window. Snow buildup on the vinyl one was also something to worry about. Less so on the oem. The hard surface of the oem is the best part. I can put stuff up there while loading or unloading the pup, gear while I'm getting ready to go for a hike or ride. That part has actually been pretty helpful.

I wasn't intending to buy a 2020 with the oem tonneau but the only quicksand they had on the lot came with the oem tonneau so I got it. I'm happy I did.

Awesome I can't wait to get it!! Thanks for the great feedback. On my old 2010 taco I had a soft trifold....was definitely flappy and sagged a lot after two years of Ottawa winters etc. Was easy to remove and store in bed though for unexpected load carrying. Does the OEM hardcover fit in the short bed lengthwise once removed?

I'm not sure. I've never taken it off. From what I've seen online though, it looks quick and easy since it's just one bolt.

The OEM let’s in A TON of water. Here is a picture after sitting in a parking lot not moving at all. I sealed behind the bed rails and other places already too, it just get between the weather stripping slits then runs the length of the bed cap since there’s an idiotic groove. Then that groove dumps into the bed
