If you want to try swapping the lenses to spot, I have six barely used squadron spot lenses and I’ll send you a couple for the cost of shipping.

I'm a pretty big fan of the Squadron Racer edition when used with other lighting. It features a dome-less LED that casts a tight 7 degree beam compared to the Squadron Sport/Pro in a spot lens that casts a 9 degree beam. The LED is what's different, same reflector. Most people that use the the Racer edition are Baja Racers that go speeds of over 75+ mph. If you think about it, at high speeds your peripheral vision is blurred and you're focused straight in front of you. The Racer edition maximizes your long field vision and having a concentrated pencil beam will be a benefit in that situation. For slower applications, a broader beam allows you to have better terrain recognition.

If you're able to, I would recommend taking up the offer of our fellow Tacomaworld.com member and getting those spot lenses for your current Squadron Pros. That way you can see firsthand if this will be best setup for your application. I have a picture (not the best :)) that I took in the office that shows the difference in spread and intensity. This will at least give you a better perspective on each light.

Squadron Racer Edition Spot (4300 lumens) Left, Squadron Pro Spot (4900 lumens) Right. Keep in mind, not the best representation by any means but gives a quick perspective on what to expect.

Yeah, this for hwy driving use at 60mph+. I love my Squadrons with the driving combo for moderate speed travel and around the neighborhood. Like you said at higher speeds though I'm looking pretty far ahead and the sides of the roads at that distances visually appear a lot closer together (narrow such as the Racer or Spot would target)

Out of curiosity, how does the OnX6+ 10" bar fit in the mix here? It's a little cheaper and little wider but not as tall as 2 racer squadrons. Or more directly, how would the OnX6+ 10" compare to 4 Squadron Pros (2 wide/driving + 2 in either spot pattern or 2 of the racer model)?

There's benefits to each setup but we always like to review a vehicle and it's intended purposes before making an accurate recommendation.

There's a few differences in size, adjustability, and the internals. The Onx6+ has a larger reflector that's about double the size in depth and width. That means you'll get more distance compared to a Squadron reflector and it'll be more efficient in terms of lighting. It also has a combination of different LEDs too. Two of those being Racer edition LEDs out of the six. Whereas the Squadron Pro and Squadron Racer Edition has one type. For adjustability, you have left/right and up/down motion in a pod compared to a light bar which is up/down. This allows you to create a wider spread when adjusting the lights. You also get more versatility in picking lens patterns and colored lenses with more units.

From the options given, I would say a pair of Squadron Pros in a driving/combo lens pattern and a pair of Squadron Racer Editions would be the most efficient in accomplishing near, mid, and long field vision. The intensity would also be brighter.
