@Mooseditty17 are the files in your signature based on the latest 2.0 tunes from Mat? The reason I ask is because my truck had misfires on all previous tunes so I want to stay on the latest platform

This was the initial concept of ‘tune pack’. Many of the early adopters didn’t want to lose access to all the original variants, and the ability to understand what changed so they could better utilize VFT.

Mat thought about it for a while, and then agreed that if you were a flash kit owner and ‘requested a tune pack’ you could get those older tunes in VFT. That whole plan sort of got sidetracked when everyone started calling the new release sets ‘tune packs’.

The new sets were much larger because of gearing, tires, throttle, etc., so I get how it happened. But I think some options for us early adopters were left on the table somehow if we can’t get old tunes in VFT format.

That’s my take on it. If someone knows definitively differently, please correct me so I can adjust my memory and comments.

    My shows the same.
From 20° it redards to 5, Intake VVT swings to 59°, IG dips to 1.5° then recovers to 17°and it is consistent between all the events. Is it related to IG timing compensation for Atkinson cycle?

Exactly how I remember it being layed out too but it's all good. I'm certain with enough people on the same page and working on the tunes that eventually people will get pretty good at modding these files and there will be a few versions out that'll be exactly what anyone could want.

With my limited understanding so far I'm actually leaning towards what Matt said earlier about the torque shifting maps. For me its almost exclusive to the 2-3 upshift. I think all this timing changing is compensating for something because the ECU is telling the engine/tranny something incorrect on that upshift. Possibly not providing enough torque on the upshift that makes it bog down? I have no clue...

Edit: It definitely doesn't happen at every pedal angle and every RPM on that upshift. I'd say its most pronounced at low RPM low-medium load on the 2-3 upshifts.

I am looking at your graph. It looks like the calculated load spikes at the same place intake timing spikes and engine rpm drops. That all makes sense to me. The question is why is load spiking here?

Edit: i guess i don’t know how load is calculated. Maybe the engine is calculating higher load because rpms are dropping. I hope my speculation isnt getting in the way I just find this interesting.

Yeah, that’s where I’m at too. It’ll all wash out in the end. I’m holding off on even looking at tables until 04A61 is released. Then I can kiss my evenings goodbye for awhile.

Trying to remember all the tips and tricks being discovered now. :)

I've been toying with the ECT shift points with some advice from @ForceOfG. Those tables seem to respond appropriately. It gives you a taste of what your going to have to dive into later.

    ECT - 10 tables... Primary shifting - 70!

Plus you can switch back to "normal" with the push of a button!

I can post the tune tomorrow after work. I can also share a screenshot of the shift points tonight. :D

Again, shout-out to @ForceOfG for helping pull me out of a mental rut on the comprehension of shift points

I personally like the way my truck tows from a stop up to 4th gear in ECT mode. Afterwards it tends to try and grab 5th, and more often than not, it ends up bouncing back and forth. Drives me :annoyed:. Also on some of the less extreme inclines I frequently traverse, I felt it dropped to 3rd too easily when it should have held off another second or two and made the hill in 4th. This is my attempt at a solution. Unloaded it does exactly as I want! I have yet to test it with the camper. Ultimately that's my heaviest load, and if it tows that well, it'll tow everything else I got beautifully. ATVs, boat, etcetera. This will be the same tune as the most recent Perf+2.5 but with the ECT PWR shift points shown below, added to it.
    Screenshot_20200916-180815.jpg

(2-3 upshift table is just there for visual. No adjustments made to that table or other tables that are not shown.)

Note: I have 33*11*18 with 3" lift, Steel front bumper and stock gearing. With my everyday gear in it, my truck weighs approximately 5000# per my local scale.

I believe load is dependent on a couple things. Throttle angle, RPM, MAF all contribute to the calculated load. But it my interpretation load is the % of the max amount of air your engine is able to suck in at that RPM. I've also seen people saying it can basically be treated as the % of available torque that you're making at a certain RPM but with our trucks using Atkinson I don't think that idea is applicable for all situations. But yes the load spikes because the RPM takes a dive. Should the load spike that much? No idea! In my mind if throttle angle is 20 and RPM is 1500, load should be the same regardless of gear. Hopefully someone can educate us a little more if that is incorrect.

Yet another thing I've discovered on this journey is how much the throttle likes to limit itself. I've been noticing when gearlocked in 6th doing around 60 if I mash the pedal the throttle wont even open 30%. It will slowly open up about 1/2% every couple of seconds. Maybe its a safety thing?

tune the airload tables and you can get full throttle in 6th.

Also when checking load always check absolute load.

ohhhh boyy! I thought I tuned out the limits based on one of your posts a short while ago. I also tuned the 'acceleration throttle request to airload' table and made it more linear with a slight ramp up on the low end. I'm assuming the input translates to degrees open on the throttle body? Here is what I currently have what would you recommend changing?

    Mat @OVTune,

What is the current wait time for pending tickets. I submitted Tune Support Request 19443 on 9/9/20.

I don’t want to submit multiple tickets unless I need to.

    Thank you.

That's interesting... Maybe to help protect the transmission?

Agreed! That, and the linear throttle have made a big difference for me. With the artificial torque limit gone, the engine feels more natural? Less robotic? Weird, I know.

For the linear throttle, I did smooth ( CTRL +I ) this section to take out the big jump from 0.0% to 9.5%:
    upload_2020-9-17_7-18-49.jpg
Note: The two cell errors in the 11% and 17% columns has been fixed and flashed.

One big ask, @OVTune , with the digging around for Rev Hang and 1st Gear DFCO, can you please also peak around for the Anti-Stall function? It needs to exit my life. If there is anything that I can do to help that search on this end, please let me know?

With these Linear Throttle and Air Loads changes, Anti-Stall is firing off like crazy when rolling around at idle or on the clutch with no throttle. The engine isn't going to stall, but it seems that any dip in revs near fires off Anti-Stall. I can make a vid or datalog? It's almost funny if it wasn't annoying.

    Thanks!

And, are there Zoom controls for the Map Viewer? I didn't see that in the vF Instructions and none of the usual suspects seems to do it. I might be missing something though. I'm the CAD guy that makes folks seasick when viewing models.:rofl:
