You might have to sell your anus to get a 3080.

Nice to actually see the game since it was leaked like two years ago (or three?)

    Nice.

Microcenter had piles of Ryzen 3000 processors when Amazon had none. If anyone will have cards, it's them.

What's funny is that ME won't even talk about 3080s yet. I'm guessing Canada got next to nothing for supply.

Looks like some people have been outside Micro Center since 8pm, stores don't open until 10am.

Just crazy, I figured 8am was early enough for a $700+ computer part.

We have a microcenter in Boston.

I refuse to step foot in there. I've been told by a few people that the more you buy, the more ridiculous savings they can offer you. Anyone have any experience with this?

I don't have any experience with a discount on the more you buy, but I do know they price match Amazon for sure and I believe Newegg as well.

I know when I went to price out my mb, nvme, ram, and cpu I was about to save $60 over Newegg. But after taxes it was much less ( Tax free NH , store pickup only). Was so close.

Never heard of sales for a specific store. MC almost always has the best deals for CPUs + motherboard but you have to go get it. All other prices are about normal. They also have a pretty good warranty policy.

I'm just not sure the 3080 is enough of an upgrade from my 1080ti. It is undoubtedly better but I almost wonder if it's worth it to limp it along for one more generation. Decisions.....

Who here is spending $6K to buy one now on eBay! Seriously, there is a listing on there for one that's buy it now for $6K lol.

nVidia didn't just overpromise on performance. Apparently as was rumored AIBs only got nVidia specs about 3 months ago and have only had weeks to start getting cards out and available. Shortages will persist.

My daughter is bugging me for a gaming machine...build or buy? Is there an "entry" level to start with the option to upgrade/mod that I should consider?

    Any advice welcome, thanks

I've been out of gaming on a PC for a long time, it's been 20 years since I built or worked on one daily as I'm Mac based. My son has been saving to build his first though and we just started ordering parts last week. Really bad time to try and get into this as everything is hard to find or price jacked due to limited supply. I was able to find a a Ryzen 3600 with ram combo last night though while it seems out of stock all over.

Depends on your comfort level. If you are decent with your hands I would say build it. Most of the parts these days are plug and play with purpose sized plugs so you can't really go wrong. If you go with AMD you can do a lot of upgrades down the road with a 550 series motherboard I would think. I am really just getting back into this world and have a limited knowledge but YouTube is an amazing thing.

I would watch some youtube build guides. If you feel comfortable enough to build you will get more bang for your buck, but your are fine buying prebuilt also. My assumption is if you have done any kind of mod on your truck you will be fine.

If she or you isn't comfortable with building one just order here. Maingear is the goto entry level pre-built IMHO. Others are better when you're dropping big cash but if you're going for an entry system they are where to go.

    https://maingear.com/vybe/

Wait a couple of weeks for the new AMD processors though.
