I run mine at 30-32 cold. Seems to be the best compromise between ride and even tire wear for me.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I'm looking at the Cali Raised LED rack. The rub strip is included in the price, no tax, no shipping, and it costs less.

I try to go with OEM most of the time but I've some previous great luck with these from ebay so I put them on my Tacoma when I put my TRD Pros on. They've been working great. If I wasn't a cheapskate I might have gone with the OEMS but like I said, I had history with these so I went with them instead.

Yes, that one is on my short list.

Forgive me, I could be wrong, but I am not really sure about the install. I think that is the roof rack that I looked at where they just cut the rubber strips out of the roof channel and put the rack in with a bracket and leaving the rest of the channel open. Sorry, if I have that wrong but I will go back and look at my notes. If that is the case I am not sure I want to go down that path.

My challenges in finding the right roof rack are:

    1) I want to see and touch them so I can see how they are mounted. This is hard to do in NY where almost no one has a roof rack. If I was in the West, I could probably see all of them in person pretty easily.

    2) Many of the companies don't have great install instructions -- which is something I need given I tend to be all thumbs.

    3) Most of the companies won't commit to weight loads -- which I find really surprising. I get comments like, well, it holds me and a six pack and stuff like that. I'd really like to validate the approved weights.

So I will continue to research and learn here and see what I can do. One thought I had was to just put the OEM rack on the roof -- it doesn't hold a lot of weight, I understand. And then spring for the bed rack from Leitner Designs.

But at this point, I freely admit I don't know what I don't know ... so the Tacomaworld research continues. :)

I have a picture of my wife over it but I can still see the glow reflecting off my side window. I contemplated taking apart the cluster to cover it from the inside but I decided I can love with the glow.

I think Cali Raised has their weight limits on the page. If not, contact them and they should provide it. They are responsive to PM's. Hooligan also has their listed. https://www.hooliganoffroad.com/col...acoma-action-roof-rack?variant=32215902683185. The other statement they make is a protection for them, follow the vehicle manufactures recommendations so you don't collapse a roof or really raise your center of gravity and roll it over. Hooligan says each cross bar will hold 250 lbs each, x6 = 1500 lbs over your head. Somone will thinks that's OK and do it. And do some damage. And blame the roof rack manufacturer.

Thanks. Will continue to research. I think the Leitner guys have it nailed (see below). But I also understand the whole fear of liability -- and lawyers in general, for sure!

    Off-Road Dynamic Weight Capacity | 250

    On-Road Dynamic Weight Capacity | 500

Parked Static Weight Capacity | 1000

Edit: Of course, that rack is 3X the cost ! :)

There’s been a lot of tire pressure discussion. I’ve always adjusted my tire pressure for each specific set of tires I run. I use inner, middle and outer temperatures, but a simple chalk test works too. It doesn’t take much time and even less effort to actually figure out the pressure that will give you the best contact patch and longest tread life. Considering the expense of all terrain tires I can’t understand why anyone wouldn’t do this.

Ya, I my camp kitchen kit is in a Rubbermaid bin that fits perfectly under there. Plus, camp chairs, tents, sleeping bags, etc. all fit under it. Then other stuff on top.

My old platform used the 2x6 (they actually are more like 1x6) cross slat grooves. I also had a piece of MDF that slid in as a center support. It worked alright, but I wanted something more modular, that I could run in different ways. My idea is I can have half as a platform (with the pieces for the other half packed in) and half open, so my yeti and other taller gear can pack in there. Then, in a pinch, you could move that gear and make it a full platform for sleeping. We usually sleep in a tent, but it's nice to have the option to sleep in the back fairly easily. My wife and I take a lot of long road trips.

Here's a pic of the half platform setup. With the one side support folded in (I used some basic hinges), and the other platform pieces packed20200916_121734.jpg The platform is sturdy as hell! I'm happy with how it turned out.

Oh, and for carpet, with this platform and my old one, I'm just using a cheap utility rug I bought at home Depot for like $15 or something. Cut to shape, secure with spray adhesive, wrap around the edges and staple into the bottom to keep it tight.

So key to sleeping in DCSB is getting above the wheel wells so you have width?

The last time I slept in a truck bed was solo in my RCLB 2002 Tundra so tons o room. The modular setup makes a lot of sense for the limited space we have. Tailgate open or closed?
