Installed my rack yesterday with it set to high in the front and high in the rear. Added door seal (not the specific bulb seal listed in this thread, may have to end up purchasing that specific style).

This rack absolutely howls on the highway. What's the verdict, should I do low front high rear? Or vice versa?

Just pull the front fairing off. Almost completely eliminates the noise. I had mine off for a few days before installing the light bar. Almost silents

The bulb seal really makes this rack quiet. Highly suggest purchasing.

This is exactly what I am looking for. Got the Hooke Road rack installed recently and have been searching for an awning. What brand did you go with?

I went ahead and ordered the bulb seal. I originally put the Cowles edge trim on but it makes so much noise... hopefully this bulb seal does the trick. I own a third gen and can't seem to do the lower mounting position in the front and rear, so it's positioned high in the front/rear.

    So my gameplan:
    - add the bulb seal to the front fairing
    - slam the front fairing as low as it will go
    - rack mounted high position front/rear (can't bolt into lower position)

Any other suggestions to combat wind noise?

I have mines set high in the front and low in the back. It was a tight fit to get the back to its lowest position with the roof moldings on but it evened it out and helped with the noise. I also have prinsu noise reduction edge trim which completely closed the gap from the roof rack to the car roof. It's still loud inside the car at high speeds but a lot better than before. A little hard to tell in the picture but the gap in the middle is gone.

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll try and lower it in the rear (might need to undo several bolts to allow it to move around better). Will try this thicker edge trim too.

I knew wind noise would be annoying, but it sounds like a jet above my truck when I go over 35 mph!

Ya it was pretty loud at first but like I said it did get better when I made the adjustments. I also had to loosen all the bolts to get the back to the lowest position. I don't know how did it cuz it seemed impossible at first but I eventually got it there after messing with it for a couple hours.

I went with a super cheap option from Amazon called the yescom awning. It covers the width of both doors and is identical to the arb. I’m a weekend warrior and not professional overlander but I did watch and read a lot of reviews before deciding on this option. It was under $100 bucks. Now, one review mentioned that when mounted the zipper for the awning faced up which could allow water into the case, I saw a YouTube video where the guy removed a couple screws, flipped the awning around in the track within the case and put the screws back on the clip and voila! No issues what so ever since I’ve had it.

Not as of yet but haven't had a chance to really play with it at night or aim it properly yet. Planning on doing that this weekend. If I get horrible glare I'll let you know lol

Funny how these things are different. I took mine off and it sounded like I was driving through a tornado or something. Put it back on and quiet, relatively, again

Huh, that's pretty strange. After I put my light bar up there it was even quieter. You'd think a large flat surface up there would make some noise but nope. Mine with the OEM fairing up there was horrendous. Like 20mph sounds like a wind tunnel style. Even with bulb seal.

Well, added the bulb seal and lowered the back to the lowest position, rack still makes a ton of noise. Not sure what to do next.. any more ideas?

In all honesty that may be about it. Every roof rack is going to make noise, especially with permanent cross bars. Some guys have taken the whole front fairing off and that cut down noise. If you want a project you can drop your liner and pull the carpet and roll in some sound deadening insulation but you'll have to turn up the radio and deal with it or ditch the rack imo.
