I have the 215 and have tried the tig a few times. Only complaint is it’s scratch start vs high frequency.

There is Garage welder that might get used once or twice a month then others that might burn a 10 pound spool of wire on a long weekend .

If yours is the First type of use I say go with the Hobart line The second the Miller Multimatic though a new design going to be a few bugs to work out there always is warranties are great .

Finally made the move from practicing on scrap metal to an actual project. I have an old motorcycle trailer someone gave me a while back I've decided to modify and make it also function as a utility trailer. First step is to extend the back of the trailer to be even with the end of the tire track (which is a 1/4" thick C channel) to make it easier to get a zero turn mower on and not have the mower deck bottom out on the C channel. Used 1-1/2" square tubing (1/8" thick) to match the existing trailer framing.

Overall I'm happy with it. The welds aren't pretty but I think they will hold. Looking back I think I was just going too fast and didn't let the puddle build up enough. My heart may have been racing a little haha. As always, your feedback is appreciated.

It's funny you mention your heart racing. When I started out, I was the same way. Sewing metal together with fire is exciting stuff.

Looks good, the one thing I see wrong is your axle is forward of the center of the trailer now. Not enough tongue weight is a bad thing.

Here's a video of not enough tongue weight.

You don't want it to start fishtailing on you, I did that once with a skidsteer. Luckily I didn't have a wreck

Very good point, I hadn't thought of that. Fortunately the extension on the back is just to facilitate loading and avoid having the mower deck scrape the C channel. Otherwise I plan to have the mower (or motorcycle, etc) all the way forward, so hopefully I won't have any amplified fish tailing.

So? What you are saying is no "snowflakes" are allowed to weld?

    I have say, I disagree.

Having some recycled asphalt delivered today. Wanted it spread dumped but the driver didn't have chains on his tandem gate.
I said "back up to the garage".

    10 minutes, problem solved :D

Depends on what you mean by a snowflake. There are no safe spaces or petting ponies in my garage!

This would give me an excuse to add another phase to the project, to move the axle back. :sawzall::welder:

    I haven't posted in a while, but I upgraded my welder from a 211 to a Millermatic 255.

Even though the M255 machine and torch is bigger, it still welds the small stuff pretty nice. .030 wire, C25, 1/8" plate.

    Check Build thread
    I wanna upgrade my 211 to a 252.

I’ve grown super fond of the 252 and the way it welds is amazing. Can’t quite get my 211 to weld the same

I still have the 211 too. Sometimes my 211 would weld somewhat erratic when turned up high as if it was reaching it's limits. The 255 is pretty smooth at all settings.
