With just a single mod the Tacoma can have 35 cupholders.

Coming soon to the 2022 Trail edition - as an added accessory to the giant fender coolers. Trail Edition will be renamed as the Super Sunday package.

No, sorry. You can only order this option as an add on from Mountain Hatch. MSRP is $499 but shipping is free.

I kid. I kid. I like the Mountain Hatch product and will eventually order one when I get to that phase of my "Tacoma Tweaking."

As far as diesel engines in Toyota trucks, I think it will happen soon. Reason being, "ducted fuel injectors", I do believe Toyota is on the forefront of testing this new type injection, it will allow for way less emissions controls on the vehicle, less chance of going into limp mode in middle of nowhere like most diesels are now. Toyota has had a lot of trouble with diesel particulate filters and def over in Australia, lawsuits, etc, these emission controls make for very poor reliability, the more of these emission controls can be eliminated the better reliability will be.

These “ducted fuel injectors” — are they at all related to that article that came out a few months ago that questioned a patent someone found filed by Toyota about a new way to premix fuel and air for a more complete burn? Some folks were thinking that Toyota’s patent sounded like it was for diesels, but I don’t know enough about it to say one way or the other.

I’d link the article in question but I’m at work, sorry.

I think Toyota does need to step it up and maybe take a look at its past.
My 1 month old Tacoma has been in the shop for about a total of 8 hours and they need it back for a day, for a frikin radio/information problem. Toyota engineers don’t know why it’s not working correctly. My first Toyota pickup, a 1987 Tan Turbo had a radio problem in the third month I owned and it was replaced and during 150k miles the only time it was in the shop, yea I get this radio does a lot more, but get the customer vehicle working correctly and then find what’s wrong with the unit. I also get that if they run the Computer diagnostic on the radio and it system and get no errors, then what are they going to do with it for a day. I would think they could pull the radio and see if the problem is still there in about an hour, from there you can see if others have the problem or if my wiring or something else is broken.

My ex wife’s 1st gen the supercharged started to squeak and a day later we got the truck back with a new supercharged on it with the truck having 56k miles on it.

I see on these forums there is a group building an aftermarket fan, because some of these truck are overheating, what’s up with that, are we back to the 1960’s and before where you carry water with you encase you car overheated?

They put in the computer stuff like crawl control, but they can’t put a place for you to put the gas cap or mud flaps. Toyota 4x4 with the 4x4 on the mud flap are classic or the left side storage.

Most of this is me bitching, but this is my 8 Toyota pickup, 5 being new and after Monday, it will have been at the dealer as long as all my other Toyota Pickups combined. That is why I think Toyota needs to step it up.

    To many, but never done
I think they make awesome trucks.
But I own a 2nd gen and I've heard bad things about younger 3rd gens.
That being said they want everyone to buy it not just us wheelers.
So aftermarket mods are the way to go if you want more out of your truck.
This also helps the economy IE we spend money on American built products.

Well unless your getting aftermarket parts from China:duh:
    Which you shouldn't be:rofl:

    I feel your pain.

You know that show, Undercover Boss? I would like to have a show on TV called WTF Is Up With Your Product? The idea is you have the CEO come and you show him something about a product that makes no sense and then you look at him and the entire crowd shouts, WTF IS UP WITH YOUR PRODUCT?

The first episode would be all of us with Akio Toyoda. We drive to the gas station. We open the gas door and twist out the gas cap. We naturally look to gently place it where the gas cap holder should be ... but there is nothing there ... we then let it drop and dangle there looking really sloppy and stupid ... and then we all shout ... WTF IS UP WITH YOUR PRODUCT? All in good fun, of course.

And yes I understand that I can solve the problem by getting in line and trying the Meso product lottery but it is the principle of the matter here ... :)

I hardly use my rear locker.

The TRX is a competitor for the raptor. Do you know how much fun it is to bomb through dunes with a lot of HP and that suspension? Now there's a second option with more power? HELL YEAH!

    :burnrubber:

250HP and 700HP will do the same when you're in 4L doing a slow crawl. :notsure: I didn't buy a tacoma to win drag races or be happy at 100mph on the highway.

I like that the tacoma lineup is as spartan as it is. Gives enough options for the buyers, and then leaves the customizations to the aftermarket.

Did that for years. A windy day knocked it off that clip in a freak occurrence. I flipped out and used that as a thinly veiled excuse to buy another MESO thing.

Toyota has been riding the cash cow too long,
The 2020 Tacoma is the slowest, heaviest Tacoma and most underpowered truck out there for sale in its class.

Fun fact: In 1997 the Tacoma v6 WAS the most powerful truck in its class hand down.

With the optional Dealer installed supercharger that was covered by the bumper to bumper warranty 75,000 miles if I remember it was miles ahead.

Even today, 20 plus years later the 1st gen factory option Supercharged Tacoma will run circles around a new Tacoma.

Tacoma needs a factory turbo or supercharger because how heavy the Tacoma is if they keep the 3.5 motor just to keep pace with the competition.
The Tacoma should have a least a 350-400 power plant available as a factory option and if turbo or Supercharged would be covered with a bumper to bumper warranty.
