What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

The snow was fantastic, temperature was 100 degrees one day and dropped to 31 degrees.

Getting tired of the heat, so the cooler temperatures Im looking forward too.

Supercharger hates the hot temperatures too

 

The welding will burn paint off. If it’s welded up right rust should be a non Issue

 

You really don't need the bracket. You'll have to remove the old rear bracket and when you do you can bolt it in the bottom of the lower storage area. That's what I did when I swapped mine. And I have no issues with it.

 

I picked up a center console from the salvage yard the other day, and it was in terrible condition, lots of minor scratches and abrasions, and sun damage. First I scrubbed it with Simple Green and a soft scotchbrite. Next, I went all over it with my heat gun. I stole this idea from some members who have done this to their fender flares. Just go slow and don't get it too hot. You'll see it almost magically change. Lastly, I gave it a good coat of Mother's. It looked great!!

Dam I'm going to have to get me a heat gun, that really improve the look of that console. Mine looks a little faded and also has some scratches.My arm rest still looks good, just the "body" part has issues. After all it's a truck and not a cadillac.

 

Replaced the PCV valve and hose. Super easy, and good preventative maintenance.

LOL, well luckily the truck wasn't needed because if I did need it the I would've been fudged. Gonna replace it in a bit, part came in yesterday.

I got impatient this morning and ended up ordering one. It was only $24 and I already had a bunch of parts to order anyway. Thanks for looking out though.

 

Other than buying the truck, I added 4Runner side mirrors and an ultra gauge today

 

Over the last few days I've disassembled, cleaned and painted my 01-04 center console. Not sure how I feel about the paint job. The original color of the console is the newer gray, whereas my older truck has the blue/gray interior. The new paint color matches the blue/gray pretty damn close, but the texture and feel of the console is weird now, almost sticky. Either way it is an upgrade from the original, square cup holder abomination.

Waiting on a bracket and some cup holder tabs and she'll be ready for install.

Three days later and I finally arrive. Other than some weird voltage cycling last night (14.1-15.2 headlights fading and electronics acting wonky) the truck ran great. Thought for sure the alternator finally was kicking it. Made it to a hotel and this morning she fired right up and ran flawlessly. Stopped at a auto store to check the battery and alt. Said the battery was about shot and the alt was going. Bought a new battery (X2) and a general replacement alt just in case. 5 hours later made it to the destination. I think I’m going to send the OEM alt to Boyle or rebuild it myself with new brushes while I’m here and obviously keep the X2. It’s been on the list for awhile anyway. Definitely will be returning the other alternator though.

Avg just above 20mpg. All in all the real fun will begin in a month when the ol lady flies out and we drive back together hitting parks and what not.

Also, so thankful I found the crux Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the back of the OEM head unit. What a life saver!

 

Maybe the paint isn't fully cured and thats why it still feels sticky? What kinda paint did you use?

Crawled under the 02 cause I was bored at work and had a curb to drive up on.

Poppings definitely coming from the sway bar, so even though I hate it, it’s gonna get new bushings and maybe end links, if it’s lucky.

 

Why keep it on?
