I've got my Forest River NoBo 10.5 now. We haven't taken it out due to the Covid but we're spending a week with it in WV this month. It tows just fine at 1500 dry.

That huge AC in the tiny camper is pretty impressive on how fast it'll freeze you out though. Main reason I went with the NoBo over the rpod style is I preferred the slide out kitchen to the rear kitchen design.

Next year I hope to do some long trips out in the boonies with it, which is also why I went with the NoBo for the higher ground clearance.

I work in food, we've been running 100%. Was planning on heading up north earlier in the year, but the delivery date on the camper got pushed back by like 3 months thanks to the plague which screwed those plans, in addition to some of the northeast being locked down.

You coming to AOAA this year?

Nope not this year. Idk when I’ll be able to enjoy another trip like that. We have had to hold our camping trips closer to home as this new job, wine and beer, offers very little time off.

Dry camping I have minimal fresh water in the tank for use on the road, when I get to the last town before going offroad there are several methods to fill the fresh tank.

    - RV park, pull into a vacant spot next to someone already hooked up and ask if I can hook my hose up for a fresh fill, $10 bill if necessary.
    - Fuel station, they have a faucet outside, ask the clerk if I can hook my hose up, $10 bill if necessary. I carry a 50' collapsible hose.
    - Motel, they have a faucet outside, ask the clerk if I can hook up my hose.
    - Carry collapsible containers like Coghlans, fill them inside a grocery store.

An option if one is offgrid in the same general area for awhile is a water bladder https://www.campingworld.com/portab...oq6c90IU4LtVJbbjYXYaAuGyEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Leave the trailer in place, put the bladder in the bed, fill it from whatever faucet you can find in town, transfer to the trailer tank. A hose to the winterizing port and the trailer water pump drains the bladder.

I use a Vittles Vault in place of dual jerry cans on my swingout.
    20200824_194531_resize_3.jpg

It's watertight and supposed to hold 50 lbs of dog food, in my case it holds about 17 gallons of water. When we're out and about we fill the vault with a 5 gallon bucket from a stream or faucet, whatevers available. At camp I use a 12 volt transfer pump in the vault to the fill valve on the trailer

A little late to the party here. 1155 lb payload for a dcsb 4x4 pro? That sounds high. My 2018 dcsb OR 4x4 has a 1000lb payload. Unless the pro has a different capacity, something doesn’t seem to match up.

<edit>. Ok, caught a few posts. Does the manual have that much more payload than the automatic? 150lbs?

Interesting idea, I like that. I use a pair of 5 gallon jerry cans. Fill them up and walk 'em to the camper.

I was at a site a couple of weeks ago which wound up being more popular than I anticipated. The water station was at the entrance to the very narrow loop. I set up my trailer at site and walked those jerry cans to fetch 10 gallons for the night as one should. A few minutes after I was settled in someone parked their 5th wheel at the station and hooked up with a hose, blocking all in/out traffic for 20 minutes as they did so. I'm so glad I wasn't one of the people behind that guy, we might have had a conversation otherwise.

I am towing a Forest River Shamrock 233s with my 2019 SR DCSB

    https://forestriverinc.com/rvs/travel-trailers/flagstaff-shamrock/233S/1053

WDH and Air Lift in the rear just aired enough to level the last 1/2", brake controller.

Tows great, stops great, MPG not so great gets 8MPG at HWY speed lol

Just me and the GSD in the Taco, kids and the wife are in the RAV4

pull it dry and water up just before arriving at destination, kind of a pain to have to select destination based on having a water/dump station reasonably close, but worth it for now

Either a: yes, fill it 5 gal at a time (10 gallons if you have 2 hands to carry cans like I do) or b: fill it at the nearest truck stop. Blocking traffic for that long is fucking rude. Other people need to get to their site and set up too.

My 4.0 does it, but struggles towing my 2000# loaded enclosed. There is no way some of the trailers I have read on here are towed no problem like people claim.

"No problem" is of course relative. Some people freak out towing an extra large marshmallow. Others like to max it out (and hopefully do so properly). Kind of like anything else. I can go down stuff on my MTB that would make some people cry. And others will ride a moto where I would never go. just what you do and get used to.

Relative up to a certain threshold, but true. Personal experience, tolerance, and ability all play roles.

As a person who's pulled (and not always correctly :anonymous:) a range of trailers from a 5x7 flatbed behind a Mustang to 30 foot triple axles behind an F450, I'm strictly in camp marshmallow here.

The main reason why I no longer exceed even 60% of the tow rating when shopping for RVs is because I've seen and handled what happens when a trailer decides to go full wild bill on you. I prefer to know that if I get hit by that sudden crosswind, tire blowout, ice patch, or whatever, my tow rig has both the weight and strength to absorb an unruly trailer and then bully it back under control.

For those guys that take it to the very max and beyond, all I can say is best of luck to you.

I agree with you on people's experience playing a huge roll, but I can assure you I am not timid of trailers. My dad let me drive the family suburban towing our 25' travel trailer when I was still on my permit. I have been towing trailers regularly since I had my license, anything from a small Harbor Freight flatbed, to my buddies large boat.

I still would not rate the Tacoma as a great tow platform.

I tow a 17' Casita, about 2800-3000 lbs and tongue weight of 400 lbs or so, with a 2019 dcsb v6 4x4 with tow package. On a recent trip I left Ocean city Md. and went west across the state then south thru WV on route 219. Very hilly and sharp turns all the way. Ended up in the Smokey mts. Knoxville area. On the way home I stayed on major highways at 60-65 and up to 70 a few times. On the way home I averaged 16.5 mpg for 643 miles. I wouldn't want to tow anything bigger or heavier with a taco. I have an Anderson WDH and brake controller. These trucks can pull more but I wouldn't want to. In the WV mts my I got about 14.5- 15 mpg.

How are you liking the Anderson? I’m leaning towards one of those because of the light weight. I worry a little bit that the trailer mounts would tend to shift over time because of the tension on them. The blue ox style have tension in the right direction to the frame mounts and they aren’t going anywhere.
