C5F23CB9-C991-4D63-B23A-3AE95EB834C5.jpg Having a house is just a series of nightmares with brief periods of rest... then back to projects and fixing things. Tile is a nightmare. So far this year I’ve done new AC unit and heater, new countertops, working on a backsplash, and new roof coming soon as it stops being rain city.

Did you install the countertops yourself or pay someone to do it? I'm on the fence to put in new granite or stone or something other than the shitty laminate countertop that's in there now. Just curious if you have a recommendation?

We had laminate. We put in granite in the whole kitchen including the island. Then added 10” overhang in two sides of the island. We paid someone to install it. The labor for install for whole kitchen was like $500 on top of the price of granite. Those dudes worked their asses off and had to trim the sink. It looks amazing and totally worth paying them to install. Only thing I had to do was install the faucet. Highly recommend going with granite and paying for install.

Any good cabinet/ countertop places near Charlotte/ fort mill? Lowe’s cabinets are tempting for the low price of the in stock prebuilt ones.

Guess I will need to stock up on alcohol if I will be building IKEA cabinets. Will probably go look at them Saturday.

So who did you go through? I like Lowes/Home Depot for basic home DIY projects but from what I've learned in the past they are hit or miss when it comes to professional installs. I've had more misses with them for contracting out a whole home tile floor install and when I had my sliding back door replaced at my last home so now I learned to lean more in recommendations instead of "trusting the pros" if you know what I mean.

they aren’t terrible to build figuring out where to start is the hardest part. I just finished building a mini kitchen for our office. It’s really nice, but time consuming.
