    Curious if anyone can tell me about top speed being affected by regearing to 5.29?? Is this a thing that happens? Have heard it tops out at about 80 after regear?? Thanks

    The packaging is pretty hilariously bad on these things but they appeared to have made it intact. Plan is to install them next weekend.

    Toyota LF TC oil is like 60-80 bucks for 1 liter. Cheapest I found was 58 locally for 1 liter.

    It's all the additives to protect it while remaining so thin. I think the only concern is aftermarket oils in cold weather engaging into 4H or 4L. I'll use toyota's LF for my TC and I currently have royal purple for my diffs (because it was the only non generic available to me at the time).

    No. The truck doesn’t top out at 80. I can’t tell you the top speed, but I can do 85-90 on 285’s with 5.29s. My speedo is corrected. 90 in a lifted taco with armor and a tent is “uncomfortable” on US interstates.

    *3 Pics below from the rear diff. Front diff and Transfer case oil was not bad at all compared to rear diff.

    1st gear oil change was done after only about 250 miles (Free at the shop) (around 36,719 miles on the truck 10/28/20).

    2nd gear oil change done after around 4896 miles since the 1st oil change. (Around 41615 miles on the truck currently 9/27/20)

    Rear diff turns 100% of the time while driving, front diff turn 0% of the time while driving unless 4wd is engaged. That is your difference.

    Ok, stupid question perhaps. I looked over the thread and my question is about towing only. Completely stock 2020 OR, would either gears (4.88 or 5.29's) improve towing a trailer? Especially for uphills on pavement. Any help would be appreciated and thanks.

    If you are completely stock, and plan to stay mostly that way, do not get 5.29s, you will regret it. 4.88s would be fine and help towing(5.29s would help towing too, but suck when you're not).

    If you're at the stock tire size, you'd be aggressively over geared. I have 5.29s with skinny 33s and I feel slightly over geared.
