honestly this is why I do as much of the work as I can myself, because it lets me spend that money elsewhere, like the tools to do the work myself... lol its a cycle.

Absolutely. The money you save goes to the tools to do it and then usually some beer money left over at the very least.

 

Used all my shit to fix my other car and pass emissions on last time before I burn it to the ground.

Not worth enough to pay someone to fix it, so a few hundred in parts, tools, and 6 hrs of time saved me about $40k.

Celebrated by buying a boroscope, highly recommend!

need one of those to figure out WTF is rolling around inside my dash and driving me up a damn wall. Took EVERYTHING out of my truck and there is a screw rolling around in there somewhere lol

I can think of a few uses for it right off the bat, one of which checking my dryer exhaust before I fight with the damn foil hose again.

 

The vac needs a proper hose from the start.

 

So whats a proper hose . Thats the milwaukee one . And it works just fine for me .

 

I’ll have to rely on your experiences in that department but the hose was too flimsy for my taste and was replaced with a section of a busted household vacuum and suits my needs better.

 

Borescopes can come in quite handy. I have an older milwaukee B&W one (now I have a color one). A few years ago I was replacing a power door actuator in the rear door of my RAV4 and not only did I miss align the outer handle when I installed the replacement but I hit the child safety switch at the same time. I could not open the door from inside or out.

I only had one small spot I could access from. I put the scope in through that hole.



It allowed me to see what was going on and guide a slim jim in place to open the door.



They are also great for peeking into walls before you accidentally cut something inside them.

 

Yea it is on flimsy and shorter side, but with the 2 plastic extensions , hose no longer a problem for me .

 

Borescopes - once you have one, you’ll wonder how you went without for so long...

They’re reasonably priced too..right in the range of the TWSS limit (hint, hint)

My Amazon special scope showed up today and I found that damn screw in about 10 minutes. Not sure where it came from but appeared to be a trim screw of some sort. Heck, coulda been there from manufacture and just happened to jar loose on one our many potholes/Misleveled manholes.

 

I'm going to have to get my boss to get me one of those for work. I pulled the box one out of my van because it takes up too much space.

 

Yea .Brought the box one thinking bigger the better lol. 1st time cleaning my truck was enough for me .Went and brought the smaller one. Also being it has a handle, much carry around and easier to use . As far as power seems the same to me .

 

I work in IT and very often I have to drill into walls and ceilings, remove and replace ceiling tiles and such when running new cables. It can be quite messy. I do my best to clean up my own mess. I can leave it for the cleaning crews but prefer not to leave a mess for them to clean up. I have enough to do so making the cleanup easier for me goes a long way.
