I got a letter from my dealership wanting to play this game too. It read something along the lines of "if you increased your monthly payment by just $44, you could be driving away in a brand new 2021 Sport."

In AugustI got an offer for 38,900 for a DC TRD OR with all the packages. Now it's $30,603. Seems like a lot of people probably took up their offer. I was soooo close to doing it but the used market where I live was not looking good.

 

I don't get it. I have a 2018 TRD OR with fewer miles, and Carvana only offers me $27.5k.

I wonder where they get their figures...

 

When I sold my 2014 to Carvana 2 months ago, an extra $3000 was added based on “regional adjustment”. I think Carvana’s pricing algorithms take into account inventory and forecasted demand for your area.

Same make/model/miles will vary in price by several thousand dollars across different geographic areas.

 

Yeah same here. I just did the dance with them to see where I stacked up: 2018 TRD OR DCSB in Quicksand with all the bells and whistles, still under 10K miles (9885 to be exact). I am in the greater Los Angeles area, and this is what they offered..... They can blow me..... KBB is 32K... They (Carvana) show a negative $3563.00 "Local Market" adjustment....

Responding to initial post here, I had a 2015 gti that I couldn’t get rid of. I bought it for 22k, had it listed at 17k and no one would buy it after only putting on 5k miles. i offered it to Carvana and they paid 19.5k if I remember correctly. Picked it up in my driveway and dropped off the car I purchased (vw tdi at 14k). I made a series of bad decisions with car buying. But that extra 2500 offered was significantly more than I could get anywhere else.

 

I guess. But they're a national dealer. Shipping cars in the volumes they do is ~$500 or so....I would think they could buy these anywhere and ship on demand for next to nothing.

 

I don’t know what their costs are. The likelihood of a future shipping cost likely contributed to Team Scream’s negative local market adjustment. They do charge a few hundred for shipping if the buyer is more than a certain number of miles away, or if delivered to your home and you’re far from a vending machine or hub.

 

I just tried to enter my 2018 pro, but they don’t even have the pro as a choice of trims, on the drop down menu. WTF??

 

A few weeks ago I put my truck’s info on there and was offered $32k, I put the info on again last week and they offered $24k, I guess the Tacoma market got flooded pretty quick. I’m not going to sell unless I get a righteous deal on a Tundra.

 

I just looked through Cars.com for 2018 Tacoma TRD OR's (my truck). Of 26 results, only 3 were listed for less than I paid for mine new in 2018, each by less than only $2k. The remaining 23 were all higher, some being significantly higher than what I paid for the same new. There seemed to be no correlation between mileage and price either. It doesn't make any sense.

 

I couldn’t beat the trade in carvana gave me and just got a decent price in a TRD pro from them.

Man you guys are killing the market

 

Traded a 2019 Hyundai tuscon in for it. 2019 12k miles $45,900. Kbb had it as excellent deal $2300 under avg. pricing is insane on Tacoma’s and dealers were playing games with trade in value and pricing knowing there are 5 others waiting on the same truck

 

I have a 2018 Pro, and found the exact same thing

 

Two local Toyota dealers offered about $4500-$5500 more than Carvana.
