I don't think the campgrounds will open up anytime soon. The fire is near Barton Flats and on the doorsteps of the campgrounds.

 

On a sad note we lost a fire fighter yesterday. I don't have details but he died while fighting the El Dorado Fire (SanG Fire).

From images on Tv and the internet the fire is on the east side of the 38 hwy. It's down the street and across the hwy.

From a report last night they were at 66% contained but that can change with the weather.

I'm paying no one else gets hurt and the campground is un harmed.

 

Heard that this morning, sucks.

 

Yea its not looking good... I wouldn’t place money on it being open. Its too close and the forest closures are still in effect. The campground is evacuated and I can’t for see them going through the trouble of getting the campground ready for one weekend just to shut down again.

Also looking at the patterns of previous fires like the Butler Peak fire and the one that ran through Jacoby canyon, the area won’t be open for at least a year.

Fingers crossed no one else gets hurt and the campground survives

 

For those of you looking to cancel & get a refund I have some information.

1877-444-6777 is the number to request cancellation they will charge you the cancellation fees but you can ask them to submit a refund request due to the fire.
I tried to do it at once for everyone, request the refund but there system is outdated and it will have to be done manually.

Call get your refund I was told the campsite will not be open.

Just tried getting thru for refund 30 minutes on hold.Gave up for today.

I have a call in to the Forest Service. I'm inquiring about adopting SanG as a group or just help restoring it if need to be resorted.

I don't know what will come of this but it might give options for next year.

 

You don't need to call. Go to Recreation.gov, sign-in, go to your reservations details, on the right hand side where the cost is, you can click Cancel. If you need more detailed info - click on the site name at the beginning of the 2nd sentence.

They will return everything but the $8 reservation fee.
