I came into a few bucks & wanted to start tricking out my rig without the old lady seeing BIGFOOT in the driveway.
Looking to get a short lift on my '17 Sport & wanted some feedback on the lift range to stay with a stock size tire.
    Thoughts?

Ha! I have the same problem with my wife, every little mod is questioned roundly, "Tell me again... Why do you need this?"

TRD Pro tires have almost exact same diameter as 265/65/17, and they look fine with factory 1 inch lift, so my guess is that a 1 inch lift to TRD Sport with stock tire size should look fine too

I think the same. Doing much more of a lift than that with small tires can look a little funny

265/75/16 look fine on a subtle lift 2” and 1.5” in rear IMO. Good luck 285’s require a lot more work then people think along with alignment , control arms , cmc and re gear.
    Good luck

Can you elaborate? TireRack recommended 285/70/17s to try to fill the well gap. I think I'd probably go with a 2" lift. The 285s are a bit wider. Is that what you're referring to in terms of "more work"?

If you aren't offroading and you don't want to upgrade tire size keep it small and consider doing either spacer blocks, or Bilstein 5100s. If you are at all tempted to increase the tire size go up to 265/70R17 and you could probably forego the lift because a 1-1.5" taller tire truly makes a difference in the look of your truck. You can also do 255/80R17s which are 33" give or take a fraction of an inch and look fantastic with and without a lift. This was my choice pre-lift and I will keep them after I lift as well.

285s require a cab mount chop (cutting and welding metal body mounts), and often times plastic cutting of fenders/bumper corners and/or melting plastic fender liners. Re-gearing isn't 100% necessary but it does make your truck feel more drivable after adding larger and heavier tires. You'd probably be fine without upper control arms but there's always a chance that you might need to upgrade for clearance. Every time you change the suspension of your vehicle you need to do an alignment so that's just a given.

Use the search bar and search "fitting 285" or something similar and you'll find good resources on what to cut and where to cut it. It's not for the faint of heart.

Yes. IMO 2” will look good with 265’. Now if you want to fill in gap like member stated above. Cmc etc. You could do 2” and some 255 tall skinnies? Pic for reference with 265/75/16

285's, 2" lift, full turn angle w/o rubbing, still have my air dam, No Cab Mount Chop required.
