Cement Color and Scratches?

I’m currently looking at buying a cement 2020 Tacoma but wanted to get everyone’s opinion on how cement does with scratches and rock chips?

Plan for my truck is my daily but also my hunting rig so it will see a fair amount of dirt roads. Torn between cement and white...

For the Cement owners, how well does your truck hide scratches/small rock chips?

I would say they hide well

 

There are issues with the white paint peeling off around the window area. Between those two, I'd go with cement.

When you washed your truck, could you still see those scratches or do they kind of disappear?

 

They kind of disappear. Overtime you can’t really see them unless up close..when it gets really dirty is when they stand back out

 

Do you feel like another color would hide scratches much better?

 

cement does hide imperfections pretty good if im being honest. thats probably why has that bondo/primer feel to it lol.

 

Pin strips EVERYWHERE... but you can’t tell unless you’re specifically looking for em.

As someone else said up above, when it’s dirty you can see them a bit more. nothing a good buff won’t fix though.

Safe to assume magnetic gray would show more scratches/rock chips than cement?

 

scratches in paint are lighter in color, so the darker the paint the more they will contrast and show. So white hides the most, cement is probably just above silver in showing scratches. but white will show dirt. and black has a ton of deep great looking contrast when pristine. pros and cons one way or another. good luck!

 

Truck looks good. If they offered cement in 2016 I think I would have gotten that.

White would be the best. It reflects the most light. Then just go on down the spectrum. Black is the worst.

With that being said, I was shocked after taking my cement truck through miles of trees after I washed it when I got home. Thing cleaned up super nice.

Has anyone had white, silver and cement and can compare the 3 in regards to ability to hide scratches and small rock chips?

 

They will all be similar since they are so light, with white probably being the best in terms of hiding pinstripes but by a negligible margin. That being said I'd avoid the white because the paint peeling is fairly well-documented here even as much as I like how a white TRDOR looks. FWIW I've been able to buff out every scuff that's showed up so far on my cement and I can guarantee I'm the only one who ever noticed them in the first place.

 

When buffing, what compounds/process do you use?
