    Hi all,

I was driving at about 20mph this morning in my 2016 TRD Off Road 3.5 V6, 75k miles, and a loud bang/pop came from my passenger rear, followed by white smoke filling the cabin of the truck. When I parked about a minute later, I left the truck running, opened the hood, found no smoke and the engine operating like normal, no weird sounds, and no more smoke coming from the back of the truck.

Has anyone run into this issue before? I don't think this was a backfire, and am hoping that I don't have a bad head gasket or worse. Any help with this would be appreciated! Thanks!

There really wasn't a smell. The passenger wheel well looked like I had driven through a large bit of water, but I definitely didn't.

This happened this morning, but last night when driving I was definitely getting a sweet smell, but figured it was the air quality.

White smoke and filling the cabin sounds like an electrical fire/short.

And maybe even the pop/bang, but odorless smoke?

I did get the sweet smell last night when driving, and honestly wasn't paying too much attention to the smell this morning. I can say that it didn't smell oily. There was a bunch of water in the wheel well though.

Did it not smell initially? He said after parking and opening the hood there wasn't any.

Did an air bag partially deploy? Is the air bag light on?

Correct. After parking, zero smell, no smoke. The truck seemed completely fine.

Odourless smoke is a weird one... Electrical shorts smell pretty acrid. I'd have to wonder if the soy insulation on the wiring of our trucks produces a different smell when it burns/sparks because it's technically an organic material. I can imagine you'd still get some sort of smell from it though.

In the right rear where you thought the noise was, or the front?

Is it full of coolant, or not?

I'd venture a blown cooling system bit, like a hose or some type of plug.

Haven't gotten there yet. I had to run in to a work meeting and haven't been back since, but will be checking shortly.

The sound definitely came from the right rear along with the smoke. I'll be checking fluids soon once I'm off work
