Had some inexpensive regular maintenance scheduled including tire rotation. When checking out the guy tells me they covered all the items I requested, details, rotate tires, pressure etc. Good to go! I go out and know the tires weren’t rotated. I have a slow leak in one and the right rear was down to 30psi with all the others at 38. Well I go to drive off and the wheel pressures are the same and the right rear is still at 30. Didn’t rotate, didn’t check the pressure. I’m waiting for the manager to come out and will be letting them know I am less than pleased. Can’t help but wonder if they did anything I paid for.

Keep your cool and just explain what you asked them to do, what they told you they did, and why you know they did not do the work.

Just curious. Why are you driving with a tire that is leaking?

I intentionally use dust caps of different colors and and record the position before and after.

What I noticed is that some dealership or discount tires will rotate tires, but not to the exact specification.

They will do front to back, and back to front without swapping sides. That's just lazy.

Now I got spare tire acting as a placeholder tire and torque wrench to do my own tire rotation, it might take me 40 minutes but at least I know it's done right.

It’s a very, very slow leak. Takes six months to go from from normal to 30.

They may have done the rotation but not reset the TPMS.

the direct readout TPMS in Toyota is self-calibrating and will be able to tell the individual wheels location.
The system knows the position of each wheel by measuring the tiny differences in signal strength after the vehicle drives a little.
I noticed that after the rotation, the pressure readouts still uses old position, but after driving for more than 10 mins it fetches new position

Had a dealership tell me my shocks were on upside down. I looked at him and said you’re fucking me right?

He says they checked the video and the tires were rotated. I asked why all the pressures were still the same and in the same place. He gave me some answer about how maybe the dash sensors were more sensitive or something. I told him it didn’t make sense and walked out. I guess I’m missing something.

I dunno, people are allowed to make mistakes so who knows. I will also say communication and good customer service are a thing of the past.

I manage a shop and have worked on cars for almost 20 years. I tell the guys at work I hope it never happens but the phone could ring and you come back and forget to put oil in an engine. Honest mistake and we’ll figure it out if something bad happens (we work on cars 8-10 hours a day, shit happens). But you should also have good habits. Service reminders need to be reset, window stickers filled out correctly and applied, TPMS systems reset, so on. The simple and obvious things are what customers notice first, and they base their experience off that. Like the OP said, if they didn’t do that what else did they forget. I think one issue with dealers is people are under the impression they’re all trained and highly professional. At the end of the day its hit or miss who you get and frankly oil changes are almost loss leaders for the dealer (they almost always have crazy low prices to get you in and hose you on everything else). Not saying it never happens but they’re gonna have the 15 dollar an hour newish guy changing oil, typically not the 45 dollar an hour flat rate guy who’s got better things to do.

Ok im in the wrong, mostly. Driving home and sensors reset themselves. The low tire is ina different position now. Thought it would be immediate.

Nope. Just like it takes a bit to register when you turn on the truck. If you go immediately to the sensor screen, it'll usually read - - - for a bit before the numbers pop up

That took a real man to type that one out, thank you. You might want to give the service department a call as well.
