    Hey,

So I'm 19, thinking I have my big boy self-sufficient pants on I'm out in my garage changing my oil for the first time, looking at my Hanes Manual I think I have this covered.

I did drain the oil out then proceeded to fill 5.2 L (changed the Oil Filter) of 5W-30 into the engine, started it up and drove it around 200M (600').

    Sounds good yea?

I drained the Automatic Transmission fluid, not the crank case. So not only did I drive 200M with NO transmission fluid I drove around with ~4L of oil more than capacity.

    So my question is:
How bad did I fuck this up? Obviously I wont start it until I fix all the fluid issues but just how bad is this do you think?

    Alexi

Thanks, I really hope so, I did this cause I'm broke to save money, a $2000-$4000 repair bill is going to kneecap me.

You can't damage a trans unless you keep it running even after it stops engaging gears.

Big habit, don't start a truck until you check the dip stick. Get into a routine.

When you get back under the truck, get a paint stick and put a big T (for transmission) on the trans oil pan. It will never happen again.

Look on the bright side, at least you're 19. Some of us are way older and still manage to do stupid shit like that on occasion.

Wait until you buy a house someday. Only then will you truly realize how stupid and incompetent you really are ;)

It just boggles my mind how one drains the ATF thinking its the oil... there is literally NO MOTOR above where the trans pan drain plug is.

Either way, OP you are good, drain ENGINE oil completly, new filter, fill proper, then get 4 quarts of WS fluid from your local toyota dealership and top it off n go through the temp check mode.

Totally agree, in hindsight it was obvious, im going to spray paint a "T" under there as someone else said.

Thanks guys, this really cheered me up. I'm going to just have AMA tow it to a dealership and have then do everything, I need new/more power steering fluid and my breaks feel like mush (air prob). Its just better this way TBH lol

Seriously, get the transmission fluid level correct. You are now running 3+ quarts low.
