What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

So I just bought the tacoma back last weekend after getting rid of it a year ago today and now I'm tempted to trade it for a 4runner. I already have a feeling everyone is going to say a over b but I'm thinking b for myself because I know have a kid so need more room

That would be a Supra engine! But not the one everybody thinks of, it’s a 5mge from the A60 Supras. Honestly wouldn’t be worth it to throw it in the truck

I welded my plates on after putting on the rust inhibitor which almost has a cosmoline rubberiness to it and had no problems... the beads were not perfect but not noticeably bad. A good welder w 75/25 on 240 will weld through whatever. It’s a Toyota trail truck not a race car.

Did you weld them on with the bed on or off?

The bed was a pain. Had to cut squares up top and grind bolts out. Then put new hardware in and then threw the Bed liner in to cover the slop.

 

Today I cut the old lower control arms off so I could get an alignment. That was fun.

 

I was thinking of putting the engine and transmission in this one.

Nah not worth it. 7mgte maybe. But a 5m. No. Hard pass.

 

I agree with Monte, 5m kinda sucks bad, worse than the 7m but you’ll need to do the head gasket with the 7m. Plus shouldn’t be hard to find with people swapping 2js into their A70s
