Sure can be done. You could use that entire axle as is, just need to fab frame provisions to accept the links and coils. That would be pretty cool. No more wrapping leaves around the axle. Or shave the axle housing and weld on the Taco’s spring perches (and possibly shock mounts). Just gotta make sure the gears match your front diff if you’re 4wd.

other options may be to just cut the hub flanges off and weld them to your housing but I don’t know if the axle shafts have the same length and spline count between T4R and Taco (They probably do). Or just fab an adapter plate so that you can bolt the calipers on your axle housing.
For what it’s worth I think the SOS conversion kit is crap. It’s all low quality parts, caliper in a shitty orientation, no backing plate and either no or a really unacceptably weak parking brake that won’t hold your truck on a hill.

If you have any pics of this, I would appreciate them. Just ordered and I kinda want a visual before I pull the old Mc and booster.
    Also
    1. When messing with the new booster, I noticed the push rod had play left right up down, is that normal?
    2. Anyone know where to get a new check valve on the booster? Mine didn’t come with one. Got it from a parts lot for $60 so a steal, came out of a 2017 tundra.

You are aware the master is done at same time correct? Lines and adapters needed to make that work, moreso than the extension of the pedal pushrod.

Yep, already have everything else, I was just debating whether to weld something up, have an adapter machined, or now finding that one you posted.
Was there any play in the pushrod left and right or is it supposed to be rigid?

Got it. Thanks. Only thing I have to find is the check valve in the booster or I’ve got a buddy who can get me another whole setup just in case a diaphragm is ripped etc Did I read somewhere that the check valve is like $85?

I ordered these same m12 x m10 adapters because I know for sure I have m10 lines, but on closer inspection of these adapters, the actual Asian flare dish that’s cut into the adapter seems way to small in diameter to actually create a good seal on the male connection inside the master, so I’m kinda confused.

Anyone know a cheap place to get the check valve on the booster?

can i do this mod on my 07 tacoma Access cab? i dont have ATRAC. i am putting tundra brakes up front, haven't decided on upgrading the rear yet. i think i will keep the drum brakes back there. Will a Tundra booster and MC be too much for my drum brakes? or will i be required to change the rear to disk brakes? thank you!

Keep the drums no problem there from my perspective. If you are going to upgrade brakes, do the 5th gen 4 runner, they are bigger diameter and wider, and have larger pistons in the calipers. That is way better than the first gen tundra 6 lug trucks...

would i need 17" rims for that? i choose the tundra upgrade with 13WL calipers from ACDELCO / DBA rotors / TRD brakes. SS lines from wheelers. new tundra lines. ect... i have the aluminum 16" rims off a 2016+ tacoma

yes 17" required for the 5th gen 4 runner brakes. I don't think anyone has gotten them under 16" wheels without spacers... would need to be a forged wheel for sure, if not spacers too. or larger spacers with 16's would probably work if you are into the wider track width thing.

    On going
Drums on rear work awesome with tundra booster/mc, and 13wl caliper setup with 17 inch rims, this set up has been an unbelievable improvement for my truck, im so glad i found this thread sometime pre covid time. Ran awesome all summer pulling firewood trailer and boat

So what year Tundra mc/booster works for this upgrade? Is it best to go with Tundra calipers/rotors or the gen5 4runner? I just bought a 2009 Tacoma Sport with 17' wheels. The brake son this thing suck! Lastly, is anyone selling the brake lines to the mc plug and play yet for this upgrade? Thanks!

    HELP!!!!
I’m have trouble with my conversion. My brakes are locking up.
On the tundra booster they would leak air pass the 2 round electrical connections, so I cut them off and welded plugs on the booster to stop the air leak.

Should I just buy another booster or master cylinder?
(I took it to my local tire shop so they could bleed the MC and calipers and they said it’s still locking up.)
