@TK-422 Chris , have you been near Redlands or Loma Linda???? . When I was at the VA today I had a good view of the San Bernardino mtns especially the Eldorado fire . You could see alot of smoke near the summit of Anderson peak

Probably the closest I have been to there would be Riverside. I did drive thru Redlands on my way to Idyllwild a few years ago.

 

Geez! Your getting that before 50? That didn't start happening to me until this past year and I'm turning 60 in a couple of months.

I used to live near CSUSB and the view of that side of the mtn range is awesome

So, today, got my MRI results back, just scanned 'em. I'm wondering if this might qualify me for early 50+ status? Also, apparently I forgot and rounded up to 46 but I'm a couple of months shy of that so technically still 45. So, maybe I should pipe down?

 

I had knee surgery to repair a medial meniscus tear at 37. After that surgery that knee still gave me trouble off & on for years. So at 45 I tore it again, but decided to just live with the pain. Well, by 52, I had developed a synovial cyst on the inner side of my knee that was the size of half of a baseball. Finally had surgery by a much better surgeon. Result: knee is soooo much better. Hardly ever gives me trouble anymore so far(7 yrs later)
Hope your surgery goes well! Can't speak for whether you deserve early admission for it tho

 

Take care of that knee so you don't end up like me , ive had two knee replacements on my right knee since 2014 . And just today at my Neurologist appt he believes my neurological issues are possibly being caused by metallosis . This is common with joint replacements and the metal from the prosthesis poisons the surrounding tissue

 

Wow! I've never thought about that I suppose that could be totally possible. Can they make a replacement joint out of something other than metal?

 

Yikes. I've sort of been thinking that I want to really shop around and get the right guy the first time. I have a couple of leads I like but I'm still hunting. Planning to visit my dad's bff from med school on Sunday since he lives close and has a pool for the kids to pee in. He has worked at the local children's hospital for as long as I've been alive so he's got some decent connections.

I watched a little video on how they do this repair and it gave me the jitters, yikes, don't like that at all. Like sewing some polyester back together, just looked like a real mess.

Oh man, that's a rough one, You need the aftermarket parts b/c OEM broke down on you but they aren't as compatible and may cause trouble elsewhere. It's a real scylla and charybdis situation. Other than making my wife and kids fetch all the beers and carry me around on a litter, any pointers as far as joint health goes? I'm guessing maybe I ought to stop or at least try to limit the running but that's kind of one of the only things I'm able to do these days to keep myself sane. My dad is a fan of his glucosamine but man oh man those are horse pills.

 

I had a bad horizontal tear on the meniscus at 47, never got back on a bike. Surgery fixed it.

Chuck has more scar tissue than normal skin at this point.

And don't worry about the age thing, we dont care.

 

My wife uses one because she is only 4' 11". I have to pull it off the seat whenever I drive her RAV4. Luckily the newer RAV4s have two seat position memory.
