Well, your beloved Supra is just a shitty BMW Z4 now. Can you imagine how un-reliable it will be? The engine may survive if the bearings last, but you know the info-tainment will die and total the car because BMW.

My last truck was a shit-box 97 Fard Ranger. Well, I still got it, but I have no incentive to drive it with this shiny taco in the driveway.

I’m an American car guy. This is my first foreign car in my 25 years of driving.

And there is no new Supra in my eyes.

    A Dog? Blasphemy.

Ok the IS300 Turbo. The what? They never made one?

I s'pose it is time to try again. Every manu. should be allowed to try a line of turbos every 25 yrs. or so.

If the Taco gets a diesel before the Tundra does, that would be hilarious.

Arguably the Tundra would be a better match.

Agreed, but I think the OP wants those to be factory options rather than strictly after-market. The off-road "needs" really vary differently from rock-crawling to mudding, to dessert pre-running, and forest trails. WE each have pretty specific needs. You're right about the warranty though - all those extras add up quick when the post-warranty repairs come in. Then again, quite a few of the guys here who extensively mod their trucks do their own work. It's all about options man.

Actually... the GA Traverse trail is not too far from you, north of Atlanta.

IMO even the 3/4 tonne market diesels are on borrowed time. VW and Mercedes gave up on the US market diesels years ago. It really didn't help that one got caught cheating to make the numbers. I can't see Toyota putting fourth the effort to make a diesel at this point

I don't see it happening either, the extra engineering and sourcing of heavier duty parts to support a diesel, then having to go thru EPA certifications and crash tests. After all the effort and expense they would probably only sell a few thousand to a small minority.

Toyota is too conservative. When it comes to their truck platforms, they're content with giving us the same old vehicle with a rehashed "special" color and throwing in coolers to keep things semi-exciting. Do they make solid vehicles? Yes! Can they do better? Absolutely. But they won't think it is justified as long as their product sells and they're able to milk a platform for a decade with little to no real changes.

The weird part is that Toyota is the same company that sells an over-styled 300+hp fwd v6 Camry and a 300+hp Rav4.

I think they need to look into the Tundra first. It desperately needs new styling at least on the front end. It could use a full refresh at least to make it more aggressive and more attractive. Also, a lower cost version wouldn't hurt.

The Taco outsells the Tundra 2:1 and that's the opposite of the big 3.

Guys, there's a new Tundra coming in 2021.

Yes it's overdue. Holy cranberries, we know

    :deadhorse:

Get over it. It's still a kick-ass truck, even if it doesn't have the latest and greatest ball massager in the driver seats.

If it did have a ball massager people would still want to upgrade it to a heated ball massager

That's preposterous! Everyone knows that's the sweatiest part of the body, you would want a dedicated ball cooler.
