adding locking diff

How difficult/ how much would it cost to add a locking differential to a '98 tacoma 4x4? Thanks in advance!

 

if you look hard enough you can find a wrecked trd tacoma in a junkyard and buy the rear diff. we bought one for 200 bucks for some guy.

 

Yeah the junkyard route definately seems the way to go as far as costs concern...for some reason never thought of that ha, thank ya thank ya

 

I've been thinking about this for a while.

How difficult would it be to wire the whole thing up in a Taco that doesn't already have a locker?

I've searched for an answer to that question already. And sorry, I don't mean to hijack the thread.

 

I have never done it before but it shouldn't be that hard. Just have to find the wires you need and then the locker button but that is not hard to find. Check out ttora, I think there are some threads on there.

 

If you want stock locker than you'll need the whole axle. Somebody sells the right wiring harness online...I don't have the link but I've seen it up on here before.
