I'm with you, I think I prefer the looks of the RLD. Curious to know the differences between them two. Weight, limits, etc

    But nonetheless enjoy it OP.

I was actually saying I like the RSI much better than the RLD and much prefer their modular build, accessories, etc. but would get a black RLD if the RSI didn't exist. The RLD angles just look odd to me. But to each their own!

I see that now... I guess I'm not good at multitasking...

I get your points, they are valid. I just prefer not having big windows or glass around it but I also see why people would want them.

So is it the mounting hardware that's different for these caps? Prinsu can mount to Yakima or Thule rails(https://prinsudesignstudio.com/install-guides/), makes me wonder how different RSI's rails are from those. The way the prinsu looks in that install guide makes me confident the rack would clear the positive pressure intake vent, which sits 1.25" above the cap, and the rails are only a 1/2" lower. Should be pleanty of space.

Finally got my cap on- thought I had posted pics in this thread but it was here https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/rsi-smart-cap.679267/page-9

I saw that thread. Looks great on the MGM. I have a MGM Tundra so I'm stoked on that.

As for the rack rail situation.... no idea. I just know that Front Runner is also South African and see tons on SmartCanopys in other groups with FR racks on them. FR offering an RSI-specific model is encouraging.

I just put the Cap on and the rails fit Thule and Yakima cross bars. As my RSI bars are on back order and I looked into just getting Thule or Yakima.

Hey y’all been a crazy two weeks here in hell aka the Pacific Northwest. I just wanted to give a nod to this canopy.

We were evacuated from our home last week and ended up packing up what we could in a short amount of time. I had one small suitcase, my girlfriend needed a cargo container (jk). I had complete confidence in the canopy to keep our stuff secured and safe from the elements and it did just that. There was hardly any dust or ash inside even though everything else outside had a heavy layer of ash. The dog rode in the backseat as the air quality was hazardous.

I believe someone had concerns of water coming in through the positive air vent. As I washed my truck a day or so ago, that is a valid concern. It did allow water to come in but only because I had the hose basically shoved down it lol. I wouldn’t worry about it unless I was driving backwards through a hurricane. We will see though when the rainy season comes (hopefully soon).

One last thing I’d like to address. The stickers. I was hoping someone would yank them off first but I’m impatient so I went for one side last night. It came off pretty easily just need a little goo-off on a few spots. What do you guys think?

Hope this post answers a few questions/concerns. If you guys have any more that I can help with just shoot! 881E291A-7611-4DAF-8C32-CF6514F7D2F6.jpg

After having my concerns about potential leaks in the roof vent mitigated through a couple of back and forth emails with the RSI regional sales rep (and confirmed by your post this morning @Aaronparker001), he hooked me up with my local dealer. They're only a mile or so from my house so I went down there this morning to place an order for a cap for a long bed.

"Good news, they're in stock in California and we can have it to you in 3-4 days!"

Bad news: they were charging $4962 before sales tax, which is almost $1300 more than the price they are listed at on RSI's website. So, uh, WTF? They also wanted $550 to install the thing, which I can do myself so that's not a big deal.

Yeah, I emailed the rep from the parking lot... I'm happy to order from anywhere if the price is what it's supposed to be.

Glad to hear everyone is safe!
I like mine but feel the cap is an inch too short. If I mount it where it sits flush with the inside of of the bedrail (inside the bed) at the front then I have over 1-2 inches of the tailgate top rail exposed. (see 1st 3 photos).
I moved it back an inch today and now the cap pushes into the front end of the bed by and inch- and I wonder if the cap is too far from the cab itself (last 3 photos)
I'd be curious to see where other people have mounted their caps. For reference, the center panel of the cap on mine measures 54.5", the whole length seated on the bed rails measures a bit over 63".
I will say it seems the positive air intake seems to do its job as far as dust goes. Gonna really put it to the test here in a week with a camping trip.
