You describe an off road park and mod garage all-in-one, as an end goal. I like that, but I think that's well beyond what I'm looking for, yet not opposed as an eventual outcome.

It also seems you're kinda hung on shock building alone. I'd like to offer that service, but that's not my meat n taters right away. I'm saying that in my area I've had to learn by doing, because paying a shop 2-3 hours away to put on a bumper is stupid and not feasible.

I have zero interest in SxS or ATV offerings. Maybe I'd do their shock builds but that's it. The rest of that segment is pretty well nailed down at this point, brick and mortar or online retail.
No interest in diesel, either. We have at least 3 of those shops just in the Huntington metro area, few more outside.

I'm not sold on the event thing. Personally seen Rush, alone, raise their prices 3x in just 4 years. Due to insurance and tax hikes.

In my area, there is plenty for everything else besides Toyota. That's where I want to market. Hell maybe even other Japanese or foreign wheelers! I'll take on Heeps, to bolt on some mall crawler garb maybe, soccer moms and bros love that shit!
I just need another competent person to jump on this pipe dream, without upsetting that person's current livelihood.

That's a cool concept! Plenty of rich people around Cincy to pay up for that lol

Still, set in/near a major city. I want enough property to have this magical test track, no neighbors I can see or hear, the ability to piss wherever I please without gaining a RO as 1st place prize, and maybe even firearm hunt on.

I get that. I'm not hung up on shock rebuilding, that is how this whole convo got started (this time).

I'm too lazy to either scroll up or click the last page button, but someone complained about not being able to get their shocks rebuilt/revalved without shipping them across the country.

That complaint, is very valid. There is a whole bunch of knowledge and know how associated with that. Ride tuning is a pain in the ass if you dont have someplace to tune it and adjust it. This valid complaint = market gap.

When you start to consider how many vehicles are running aftermarket suspensions in population hubs, Lexington, Cincy and surrounding areas, that is a BUNCH of shocks to rebuild or revalve or, to upsell rebuildable shocks.

Then, when they want the suspension tuned or shocked revalved, guess who they will come to? Especially if you can revalve and reinstall for them so they can drive out into the testing area and feel it, RIGHT.NOW.

That is a UX that nobody has in that market. At all.

    Just a thought.

Its possible that it could grow into something more with events and such....of course you'd have a grand opening with a meet.

Hosting meets should be a given. Potential customers are literally hanging out at your front door.

I wonder if we could crowd fund on the ole interwebs at other offroad websites and get a little stash of cash lined up.

    Anything is possible.

Anything except me being in printing sales until I retire. HAHAHAHAHA.

Hmmmm.....you're starting to make sense, Q. Stop it!

Closest shock shop I found was the place in WV that wanted too much of my monies. No idea if the Lex/L'ville area shops do that. I'm tempted to believe that a fair amount of the truly built rigs I've had opportunity to wheel with at Rush and RRG (folks that live near those 2 metros) are DIYing their shocks or pony up and send them off.
Absolutely potential for my shop to do that, once I educate myself.

Obviously there will be a meet if this takes any resemblance of fruition!!
Definitely can't do that here, get bandeded for it lol!

Call me pessimistic, but I don't think anyone that lives in the near-ish large metros willing to fund a shade tree Yota shop in southeast KY.....
We haven't been known for commerce or investment opportunities, like ever.

Look up 'Braidy Industries in Kentucky' -buncha assholes

I'm not building your company, here.

    HAHAHA.

I already have land in SE KY, no need for any more.

However, if a place were to come to fruition, proper placement to be able to deliver, isnt necessarily a bad thought.

I'd rather be closer to a metro for the business volume, but I fucking hate big cities after my short Telco career.

Where's your land? Ideas of placement?

Technically, the Huntington metro area could serve it well, but the market for anything non-Yota is fairly covered already. Which brings up the point, not many Yota's here are modified or desire to be.
Situating between Rush and Black Mountain makes sense. You broke your shit on the trail? Guess what!? There's a shop to fix your shitbox XX miles south/north just off US 23 called 'blah blah blah'.

I could deal with being a switch tech again, and installing equipment and running fiber and Ethernet. Just not living where the switch is. Unless it was BFE Roachdale, IN!

Ripped off all four mudflaps. Scratches all down both sides 6112’s up front on 3rd notch 5100’s in back with Toytech 1” block Skids & sliders from SOS Concepts I got rid of the 1” block and put on Wheelers 1 1/2” progressive AAL. SPC UCA. Be sure your standing on the drivers side when reading the instructions! I swapped sides so many times that I can swap UCA’s in 15 minutes. I put in the 3/4” spacer to eliminate the Taco Lean, and just got my 4th alignment. Traded the OEM rims for 17” Sport rims and a bora bora 1” spacer. I got my Firestone 285/70/17 MT2’s. Pelfreybilt gas tank skid and hi-lift jack should be here Friday. Looking at bumpers, but I think they will wait for next year. So far I’m happy with my build. I’ve done it all myself, leading to a lot of cussing and frustration, but it’s all mine.
I need all y’all in Kokomo! We have a 4x4 truck shop but I think he just likes to do wraps. Kind of an ass.

BTW, at Haspin Acres for the weekend and I put my pickup in 4wd to get up a little hill and when my tires are full of air my Shiite rubs EVERYWHERE.
