Been more careful when signing up TW to only view threads for the SR upgrades I wanted, remaining blissfully happy with my truck. Only now do I realize after all the posts I’ve seen that my Tacoma is a POS, I’m using the wrong gas, can’t haul anything at all with a 4cyl, automatics suck, etc. o_O

Selling my 1st gen. It would have broken in half and blown away in a gust of wind by now from all the beach use but I should have rode that out.

I really think 4.88 could be the sweet spot. With 5.29s it just feels like the truck needs a 7th gear. I'm planning on getting 35s and a speedo calibration to see if it helps.

Having installed a hidden winch base (which is ok). Now want an external protection to the plastic front.

I'm quiet opposite. 4:88 gears with ovtune and 33's are working out perfect. I like the stealthy slimline bumper look. JBL seems fine. A sound tech on here mentioned some settings that seem to dial it in (Edit, I might end up switching out the speakers as mentioned here).

I probably would have gone light Dobinson's leaf pack in the rear because I have airbags to supplement. And, gone with their 354 coils up front because of the weight of the bumper, etc.

Overfilling the front differential, even just a tad, resulted in an annoying drip/sweat that took forever to go away.

I might have chosen a different fuse panel bracket other than Overland Equipped because theirs can cut into the brake booster wire. And, some better quality sliders other than the Off Camber Fabrication ones because the sliders are kind of a one time deal, and I'm looking at them all the time. I also need a bigger battery, but that's typical.

I think I'll try the high-octane ovtune map next to check out the performance gains. For the Rough Country speedometer calibrator, I'll need to input the actual tire diameter instead of entering the tire size (I'm still 2 mph off)

Other than that, my truck needs more stickers for HP, and it still needs a Land Cruiser Heritage Emblem.:D

I wouldn’t change or do anything different really ... I’m good! I built what Toyota wouldn’t, a longbed Pro basically!

The real hard truth, coulda shoulda bought a 2nd gen. I'm starting to think the 3rd gen could be a malaise era Tacoma. It's basically a 10th generation F150.

I'm doing the same thing with my Taco. I'm turning my sport into a pro but I'm keeping the TRD Sport bed emblem. Its now a "TRD Sport Pro"

It’s harder to do with a sport ... sport has smaller rear end, different brake system, no crawl control (automatic) or e-locker but it can be made to look like one easily enough. The only difference between mine and an actual pro is the VIN/badging/red stitching , swaybar and leafs ... and most importantly to me, the bed length.

Stock AF. My 68 Bronco and 2000 2.5RS get the mods.
Probably would have sprung for the surround view cameras and definitely NOT super white. I found out about its reputation after the fact. I love how it looks and it was also in part to be the new version of a previous vehicle but now I'm afraid of it peeling.

Other than that, I'm happy about everything and especially waiting the few months to get the 2020's LED headlights and android auto. Not being able to get jbl with a manual worked out great too, the Focals two kicker keys and kicker solobaric are absolutely amazing.

My regret with my first 3rd gen (2017 Sport) was not getting a long bed. The truck was totaled when I got hit at a stoplight, cracked bed and frame damage, along with other body damage on the bumper and tailgate. Replaced the sport with a double cab long bed off road, and by that time premium and tech package was available so I went with to get leather and auto climate control. When tires need to be replaced will consider a lift to go bigger, maybe add a softtopper or shell in the future, but otherwise no regrets and loving the truck after 2 years.

We all have a Camille. Or a Susan. Susan was the one that openly wanted you but you resisted because you had your eye on something else that turned out to be a shitshow.

Nothing. Bought it used, got a good deal and I'll update the wheels and tires when they wear themselves out. If there was one thing I learned in high school it was "if you need a reliable vehicle, don't make it your project vehicle."
