I spent last the last four days with an OEX instructor at Uwharrie NF transversing numerous obstacles at a property they manage, Big Creek Rocks, and Uwharrie NF 4x4 trails. It was a very educational and enjoyable experience. BCR occasionally runs programs for small groups and OEX runs one day programs. There are VERY challenging obstacles there. Uwharrie has 8 trails, 1 easy, 4 moderate, and two difficult, and one extremely difficult (Daniel); I did not drive Daniel.

Now question: does anyone have a recommendation for getting my Tacoma wrapped? I would like to get a gray camouflage wrap that is protection from brush and trees. I have been using Goat magnetic protectors but lost one at BCR with the very tight off camber trails.

Bill! How've you been? Drove past your driveway the other day going to work and thought "Haven't heard from @Usroadscholar in a while. Wonder if he's been getting thru this pandemic ok or not". Sounds like you've been doing well, since you got to get to Uwharrie. Sounds like an awesome trip!

That's a horrible idea. What time?
If you don't want a full wrap, these are removable and probably cost less. Tacomaholic has these on his Gen2. https://goat-truckarmor.com/

Bill, if you were happy with the GOAT armor, he'll do single panels. I lost one and was able to get a replacement.

Just found out that the job my wife had lined up is no longer. About eight months in the works, Covid delays, license verification delays, paperwork errors from the employer, and now the hospital says she's been off work too long and won't credential her. Kinda feels like we're walking through a :crapstorm:. Time to find some overtime.

EDIT: It's easy to forget when walking through this stuff just how blessed I am. I have a job a like, a wife I love, and a roof over my head, and a truck I'm pretty happy with! Perspective.

Actually, I'm straightening all my skids out with a BFH. It can be kinda loud.

Good rule. Anything in eye sucks. I've got glasses now. I make sure they're impact resistant.

@Usroadscholar 1.) I assumed you didn't like us anymore so thats why you were'nt coming around. 2.) Exotic Vehicle Wraps is the only place i would recommend. They did a custom design and print for my truck thats a better scale then what you can buy off the shelf (in my opinion).I chose the middle sample.

    image000000(2).jpg

Edit: come to think of it, that wrap would look excellent on a nautilus or CT5.

Started having to wear readers lately to work on pretty much anything; the one good thing is they keep stuff out of my eyes. That's the only good thing, otherwise it sucks getting old!

I feel your pain. Mine started as readers. Great argument between me and the doc. Then the distance vision started going. I'm not a big fan of aging. I mean, I could do away with it completely.

Thanks for the information. Re: 1, I have been trying to understand quantum mechanics for some time and the Covid problem provided time. I have come to grips with understanding how “spooky behavior” works. Also I need to up date my knowledge of virology and the chemistry and physiology involved.

Now, after my Uwharrie trip, I am studying the forces involved in off roading. Drawing vector diagrams, considering the application torque, control of traction, use of momentum, etc. if anyone wants to get together to discuss these concepts, I would welcome the opportunity. After a day running thru obstacles at Uwharrie we worked with drawing diagrams to understand the forces involved and why certain lines are better than others. I gained so much information that I need to sort it all out. I am having a hard time finding literature on 4x4 mechanical engineering specific to off roading.
