'Morning all. Woke up, came down and started the coffee, took the dog out.....Pretty chilly. Looked at the back of the yard and thought the dew was heavy. Dew hell, it was frost! Frost before the first day of fall. Love it!

 

True story. I met Niki Lauda in 1975. We lived in a small beautiful fisherman’s village called Tellaro in Italy. I was about 10 years old. There was a gorgeous Maserati Merak parked on the side of the road.

My friends and I were ogling over this car when the owner walks up. I turn and look dumbfounded. I stammer out “are you Niki Lauda?” He smiled real big and put his finger up to his mouth and did the “shhhhh”! He showed us around the car and engine bay with the joy of a kid. It was unforgettable. As he left all we could say was “burn out!” Dumb kids... he lit those tires up and was gone in a flash.
This was before he got burned in that wreck in 1976.

Was the low temp unexpected or had it been so long you forgot what 29 felt like?

My 13 with 66k is up for 32k. Used truck market is crazy right now.

 

I expected the low temperatures due to the high elevation, but I was also not acclimated to it.
My gear wasn’t quite good enough, but it was still a great trip!

 

Yeah we've got some 5* bags we bust out for winter camping but life would suck if we forgot them, especially if it was windy.

Glad you at least had a good time despite the cold.
