    Mat will be able to tune it if he decides to do it. But he then will end up giving Magnuson tuning info by helping others and lose big$$$!

    Someone could probably contact Maggy and request to buy their map for their ECU version in unlocked format, so that they can edit it. But I assume that Magnuson wouldn't do it.

    But you never know.

    Imo the bottle neck isn't the tune. The dudes who do this for a living are pushing as much power out of it they can reasonably fuel for. Sure you can adjust shift points and acis, etc, but that's after Tuning timing and all the other stuff for tuning a SC

    I.E. The 1st Gen S/C, developments > 2nd Gen developments. It will happen just the same with the 3rd Gen. The resources are already available. Unlike what the 1st and 2nd Gen's had to deal with.

    Magnusons tune isn't based off of anything from us. They purchased our software and made their own tune. None of our tune went into their calibration.


    I am not making any tune for this or any other SC. We will provide tuning software and support.

    It's not as easy as throwing a high flow pump and injectors on it. Lot of control work (coding) on the back end.

    Lol no that's not why. We just want to provide the best software solution and don't want people who want to venture down that road of more power and tuning to be discouraged.

    Many tacomas, plenty of room to get along.

    I really don’t think they will ever sell an unlocked version. It’s not their business model. They want to be known as a vendor who sells SC with OEM reliability not necessarily the absolute fastest/most tunable.

    That’s not to say someone won’t/can’t create their own tune but I wouldn’t count on them releasing an unlocked version. It would be like Toyota releasing a Tacoma Kit car.


    From the home page of their website:

    “It’s going to run like it was factory installed because we manufacture and calibrate to OEM standards. Just ask our OEM customers. We also use Eaton rotors exclusively - the same supercharger rotors found in virtually all of the OEM supercharged applications from Audi, GM, Jaguar, and Ford. Most Magnuson Supercharger Kits carry a CARB EO# and are 50-state emissions legal for on-road use. Magnuson kits are known for their driveability and reliability, achieved through our Powertrain Integration approach. Simply put, this is the process of recalibrating the engine and transmission control programs to work with the altered induction path and boost pressure of the supercharger.”

    Man am I thankful there are multiple companies doing FI for this truck. remember when there were none? that was horrible right? now we have options, options are great.

    Can't wait to see how everything shakes out once more kits are in the wild for all the options. And where people take it from here.

    What I sense is some people chasing Raptor like performance only to be let down because the total investment truck, supercharger and suspension upgrades won't even come close to a used first gen Raptor. The sad part is people have a hard time admitting that is wasn't all they thought it was. The internet ethos of we're all banging tens, making six figures and drinking top shelf scotch.

    I want to see people spend the money on this, but I also enjoy schadenfreude

    no shortage of schadenfreude in every single Magnuson thread and basically that's all there is so far. never seen anything quite like it in all my years of modding and watching. eventually someone will get it right, but I'm not so sure it will be Magnuson with their stated value for OE installs.

    I just think it's telling that we're now five model years into Gen 3 Tacoma production and this is where we stand for FI from both companies. I'm starting to think the engine is not as tunable as people are hoping for. I'm not saying there's no gains to be made, but people should adjust their expectations.

    the engine is tunable but the fueling and ECU integration issues are big and complex. evidently OV is the only guy who has a handle on it currently.
